Hi Folks,

We now have a shiny new video gallery where we can build our own collection of interesting videos.

This is in Beta! We will need to develop a comprehensive list of categories to distribute the videos into manageable groups. The left hand menu will have parent and child menu options. You can see in the menu which is currently active that most are parent menu options without child sub menus. The Law and Order options has child menu options as an example.

For Example the food and health could become the child options below a more general heading.

If you have some ideas of what categories we require and how they may be subdivided please chip in and let us know.

You will notice that the first menu option is 'Add Media' only logged in members will see that option and have rights to add videos to the cue. Once you add a video an admin will need to approve the video and make sure it functions and is assigned to the correct category or make a new category etc. Once the video has been approved it will appear in our video gallery. Which will make it much easier for people to find the videos in future.

Although there is an upload option you may not use it! There can be no streaming on our server and uploading them will result in wasted bandwidth. Any uploads will not be approved and shall be deleted! You will also get a warning for disregarding this policy as bandwidth costs us money. So please do not use the upload function. When I get a chance I shall hack that function out of the code base.

Youtubes are the easiest to add by simply pasting in the correct url. Other services can be added such as Vemio. [Third Party Embedded Code] In the case of Vemio and other file hosting sites they provide embedding code. You need to cut and paste the embedding code into the appropriate entry box. You will also need to make a thumb although if you find dealing with images difficult we will sort that out. You will need to paste in this http:_//sanctumzone.co.uk/media/com_allvideoshare/uk-law/place_holder_TV_Zone_video.jpg into the address bar in a new tab and remove the underscore :_// for the url to be valid! The right click and save the image to you local hard drive. Then using the Thumb Browse option navigate to that file and upload it.

If you don't fancy adding the videos yourself then you could open a thread in the recommended viewing sub forum, nominating a video for inclusion. Please provide a link or add the media using the text editor. Either a mod or another member can then add the material to the gallery or cue.

When you make a request in a thread please provide:

URL to video source!

Title (make it descriptive and meaningful)
Slug optional*
Description (Write a short synopsis or a few lines of text describing the video content)
Thumb image optional*
Required category (1st existing 2nd request new category)
Tags optional*

There is more work required for the full implementation of this feature, and image dimensions will probably change as a format is settled upon. Please retail a local copy of any thumb images you provide in case we require them again.
