How about if threads from Today's news were moved to a relevant sub forum once they haven't been posted on for a nominal period of time and are now anything but Today's news?

I agree with that, though when I did it off my own bat on you know where, with threads that hadn't been touched for a while, anyone who happened to notice made a point of complaining about it.

And yes, it should have an apostrophe.

OK, I've had a right good tidy up, got 14 pages down to 7(and I ain't done yet), if anyone finds something where they think it shouldn't be let me know, I've gone a bit forum topic blind!

this is the second momentously sad day this week....

first the resistance dies and then the walking mod nemesis known as oioioi spends several hours dragging and dropping dead threads in an ocd tidy mod suit....

all this stuff about massive unpredictable changes in 2012 seems to be panning out...

Why not rename the section to avoid bad grammar issues? Some snobs might not join based on the lack of apostrophe.

What you clearly should have done oi, is to start a vote/poll thread in Community Chest in regards to every single separate thread in Todays News before actually moving it, in order to ascertain the memberships desire and therefore achieve community consensus in regards to every aspect of the issues surrounding the moving of each said thread, ie for example.....how long should said thread stay in Todays News before being moved into another category (dependent on its remaining relevance to ';'todays news'' - ie is it a news item that is still in todays news headlines as well as yesterdays (and indeed possibly last weeks headlines) rather than a news article that perhaps will only be in the headlines for one day only (kid nicks toffees from corner shop kinda news article).

And then of course, the issue of what other forum category the defunct Todays News article should finally be moved to must also be decided by a community vote/poll surely. We need consensus on these matters...

And after that of course, there follows the issue of what to do if the said moved article/story that has been moved from Todays News happens to hit the headlines again later in the week! Does it then get moved back to Todays News, or does it remain where its been moved to? Another community vote/poll would be required to decide that one methinks...

Well if I didn't have to waste time clearing up after the lackadaisical previous tenants I'd be able to devote more time to establish processes to ensure things run similarly to the way you propose.

Or people could self moderate and put threads in the right place.
