I've just looked at a funny review. Where I mentioned Mills & Boon, this describes it as...
“It’s Mills and Boon with butt plugs,” said Kathy Lette. “It taps into a lot of women’s need for non-consensual sex,” explained Bonnie Greer. “We’re fed up making decisions every day, we just want to be dominated sometimes,” was the conclusion of a reading group.
“I don’t know a woman who wants an anal fisting of a Friday night,” disagreed Rachel Johnson.

Or indeed any night...

Quite!
Anything that goes on between
consenting adults to tickle their fancy is fine by me, but the likes of this Bonnie Greer person are a bit of a menace when they behave as though they're speaking on behalf of all woman-kind, don't you think? Are you 'c
onsenting' if you
want someone to do something to you
against your will?

I agree - whatever consenting adults do behind closed doors is up to them, but Bonnie Greer's comments just make me face-palm. I suppose there are women out there who have "rape fantasies", or whatever, but TBH there's a vast difference between fantasising about something and actually having it done to one! And of course, if you consent to something, then it's no longer non-consensual!
When I said in my earlier post that I'm not a feminist, it doesn't mean that I think women are all doormats who should be treated any old how by men. I believe that men and women are absolutely equal in value, but have different roles. Maybe if I were a more ambitious, career-orientated person I'd feel differently, but IMHO we've created a society where women think they need to behave like men in order to "get on", and traditional "female" roles are looked down on and not given the respect they deserve. It seems to bring out the worst in both sexes, somehow! (Just IMHO, of course!).
