All good info, Gilly, especially re the description of the shooter. I know from my own experience, once those theatre lights go down, I can't see feck all, let alone facial features or even hair colour.

I've often found myself fumbling in someone elses crotch area for this very reason. Seriously.

Wasn't he all masked up, anyway?

He was covered head to toe. I heard somewhere that witnesses said he was smiling during all of this...but I can't remember where so that may not be true.

I'm still hung up on the red hair. If he were that obsessed with the Batman franchise and wanted to be The Joker, then you'd think he'd have gotten that one little detail right.

There's more to be found re people who knew him well insisting he was a sweet natured, shy lad. There are too many dodgy details, I believe, for this to have been anything but a set up. Heaven help him.

This is a new one on me - has anyone here seen someone's crime-count get doubled like this before? :conf:

He killed 12 people and for this he's being charged with 24 counts of first degree murder.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (Reuters) - The former graduate student accused of opening fire at a midnight screening of the new "Batman" film in Colorado, killing 12 people, was charged on Monday with 24 counts of first-degree murder, making him eligible for the death penalty if convicted.
James Holmes, who was arrested behind a suburban Denver multiplex minutes after the July 20 shooting at a packed showing of "The Dark Knight Rises," also faces 116 counts of attempted murder in one of the worst outbursts of U.S. gun violence in recent years. Fifty-eight people were wounded in the attack, some of whom remain in critical condition.

The story stinks. The "official" story that is. Were they always this badly done, or did we just not notice before? This was obviously another black op, with a ready made patsy. I'll bet that whoever else was involved got their hair dyed a different colour in a hurry.

Hmmm.... Maybe to green, which is what the Joker's hair colour actually is. This is really badly done, terrible script writers. No CGI, they actually killed the folks for maximum effect.

That little detail has been bugging me! Everything about this story bugs me...unfuckingbelievable(which is why I don't fucking believe it)! :hmm:

I also hate how when they come out with these stories, it's always: "He was shy" or "quiet"..."lived alone", "kept to themselves"....
Is it just me or are they trying to manipulate the public into thinking there is something wrong with "private people" and introverts? Seems that way. Kind of like the other thread about how you shouldn't date someone if they aren't on Facebook. If you don't broadcast all of your personal information to the public then you must be hiding something...

No, it's not just you. In these times of manipulated heightened paranoia, folks need to be all doing the same thing so as to not appear to be different, because someone you don't know very well could be the rapist, home invader, domestic terrorist, mugger, serial killer....get your alarm system, check them out online for any past transgressions.

I love being someone that keeps to himself, and I used to get a laugh out of being deliberately vague and indifferent with judgemental, nosy neighbors. These days it could cause problems. We're all guilty until proven innocent these days, and some folks are tough juries to impress.

This is from 26th July, but I thought I'd post it anyway, as it may go some way to countering some of the earlier ridicule expressed at the prospect of this lad having been a manchurian candidate.

James Holmes Family Tied To DARPA And Mind Manipulation Work

By Wayne Madsen

Aurora massacre: several links between James Holmes and U.S. government research (Salk Institute involved in neurologically enhancing soldiers' abilities on battlefield...connections to DARPA)

ames Holmes, the 24-year old suspect in the mass shooting of Batman "The Dark Knight Rises" movie goers in Aurora, Colorado that left 12 people dead and 58 injured, has had a number of links to U.S. government-funded research centers. Holmes's past association with government research projects has prompted police and federal law enforcement officials to order laboratories and schools with which Holmes has had a past association not to talk to the press about Holmes.

Holmes was one of six recipients of a National Institutes of Health Neuroscience Training Grant at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver. Holme is a graduate of the University of California at Riverside with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience. Although Holmes dropped out of the PhD neuroscience program at Anschutz in June, police evacuated two buildings at the Anschutz center after the massacre at the Aurora movie theater. Holmes reportedly gave a presentation at the Anschutz campus in May on Micro DNA Biomarkers in a class titled "Biological Basis of Psychiatric and Neurological Disorders."

Initial reports of Holmes having an accomplice in the theater shooting have been discounted by the Aurora police. However, no explanation has been given by police why the Anschutz campus buildings were evacuated after Holmes was already in custody in the Arapahoe County jail.

The Anschutz Medical Campus is on the recently de-commisioned site of the U.S. Army's Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and is named after Philip Anschutz, the billionaire Christian fundamentalist oil and railroad tycoon who also owns The Examiner newspaper chain and website and the neo-conservative Weekly Standard. The Anschutz Medical Campus was built by a $91 million grant from the Anschutz Foundation.

n 2006, at the age of 18, Holmes served as a research intern at the Salk Institute at the University of California at San Diego in La Jolla. It is noteworthy that for the previous two years before Holmes worked at the Salk Institute, the research center was partnered with the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Columbia University, University of California at San Francisco, University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wake Forest University, and the Mars Company (the manufacturers of Milky Way and Snickers bars) to prevent fatigue in combat troops through the enhanced use of epicatechina, a blood flow-increasing and blood vessel-dilating anti-oxidant flavanol found in cocoa and, particularly, in dark chocolate.

The research was part of a larger DARPA program known as the "Peak Soldier Performance Program," which involved creating brain-machine interfaces for battlefield use, including human-robotic bionics for legs, arms, and eyes. DARPA works closely with the Defense Science Office on projects that include the medical research community. Fitzsimons was at the forefront of DARPA research on the use of brain-connected "neuroprosthetic" limbs for soldiers amputated or paralyzed in combat.

According to his LinkedIn profile, James Holmes's father, Dr. Robert Holmes, who received a PhD in Statistics in 1981 from the University of California at Berkeley, worked for San Diego-based HNC Software, Inc. from 2000 to 2002. HNC, known as a "neural network" company, and DARPA, beginning in 1998, have worked on developing "cortronic neural networks," which would allow machines to interpret aural and visual stimuli to think like humans. The cortronic concept was developed by HNC Software's chief scientist and co-founder, Robert Hecht-Nielsen. HNC merged with the Minneapolis-based Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO), a computer analysis and decision-making company. Robert Holmes continues to work at FICO.

It has also emerged that Holmes, when he was 20, worked as a camp counselor at Camp Max Straus of the Jewish Big Brothers and Sister of Los Angeles. According to the Jewish Journal, among other tasks, Holmes helped to teach boys between the ages of 7 to 10 archery. In another unusual detail, the car Holmes used to drive to the Aurora movie theater had Tennessee plates. Holmes is originally from San Diego.

ames Holmes is the grandson of Lt. Col. Robert Holmes, one of the first Turkish language graduates of the Army Language School, later the Defense Language Institute, in Monterey, California. Graduating from the Turkish language class in 1948, Holmes spent a career in the Army, which likely included more than a few intelligence-related assignments. Typically, U.S. military officers conversant in Turkish served with either the Defense Intelligence Agency or the Central Intelligence Agency at either the U.S. embassy in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul, or both.

Terrence Sejnowski, the Francis Crick Professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and the director of the Computational Neurobiology Laboratory, in an interview with Cognitive Science Online in 2008, had the following comment about recent studies of the human brain: "Alan Newell [cognitive psychology researcher at the intelligence community-linked RAND Corporation] once said that when AI [artificial intelligence] was founded not enough was known about the brain to be of any help and in the early 1980s, symbol processing was the only game in town. That has changed and we now know a lot about the brain, perhaps more than we need to know [emphasis added]."

More than we need to know!

he links between the younger and elder Holmes and U.S. government research on creating super-soldiers, human brain-machine interfaces, and human-like robots beg the question: "Was James Holmes engaged in a real-life Jason Bourne TREADSTONE project that broke down and resulted in deadly consequences in Aurora, Colorado?" In any event, if the Batman movies are now serving as a newer version of J.D. Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" subliminal messaging triggering mechanism, -- Salinger's novel was of interest to a number of American political assassins -- keep in mind that August 10 is the opening date of The Bourne Legacy. It may be wise to skip that film in the theater for a while.

Wow! That's some really interesting info, Gilly!

Y'Know, that morning when I heard about the shooting being at a midnight screening of the new Batman movie...well, that in itself raised a red flag. Then I heard about the neuroscience studies...red flag! And it just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser! Thanks for all the info you've managed to dig up! I don't get much time online as I would like. With each passing day, older articles are getting buried beneath the media hype; makes it hard to uncover the interesting details.

Cheers.

There's more info floating about out there, but I can't verify the credibility of some of it. This is quite interesting, and with quite a few links included in it...

www.helpfreetheearth.com/news619_batmanshootersources.html

I didn't pay it much attention at first, because the deaths and impact on the bereaved is upsetting. But it's got my attention now, because I think the boy's been kippered. And it's horrifying.

I think anyone who scoffs at the thought of this having been engineered because they think mind-control's too far-fetched, displays a naive innocence that I almost envy.

The last part there is what I was trying to get at in a post I made earlier; I don't think we necessarily have to be taken to the research facility where we are tortured, given reprieve, starved, fed, hated, loved.... All of those things that create alters. All TV is sent and received digital signal, most people have HD flat screen TV's and the size is on average 32 - 40". All movie theatres are digital, have massive screens and a lot are 3D. Most of us eat from supermarkets, and don't read the labels, where we should be watching out for mind altering things like MSG, and aspartame. Fluoride deadens the pineal gland..... Anyway, video games are far more violent that ever, and very detailed in regards to visual and sound. Digital signal as well. All CGI is done digitally. Not to mention Ipods, Iphones, androids, Ipads, ear attached mobile phones.... We are being digitized. Our resistance is potentially very low due to the food we are being sold by the conglomerates who seem to own everything now. They know enough about mind control now that they could be manufacturing these people from the comfort of their own homes through digital manipulation.

The right subject is just someone who is susceptible after being subjected to all of the above digital devices combined with low nutrition, microwaved food. In other words, your "average" teenager. Look at how many kids are thugs these days, little suburban gangsters who dress like hoods, have gang tattoos, all look like the latest hip-hop video that glamorizes the "lifestyle". Not to mention the over the top sexualizing of young people. That's just because of advertising, and non stop media repetition. They've perfected mind control now. The new background of the future killer won't be "military" or "psych patient". It will be "They were just an 'average' young person, no outward signs of......"
"Though the rules of the road have been lodged, it's only people's games you've got to dodge.."

ronisron,

I like where your head is at on all of this. A little over a year ago, I got interested in all this mind control business but not just the "trauma based" variety. The way it all hit me, I could have concluded that I, myself, were a victim of MK Ultra but I knew that wasn't possible. I sat reflecting and came to the conclusion that(as much as I did not want to admit it) that t.v., movies, ect. had basically constructed my ego. Who was I once I peeled back the programming? Later, I came across a podcast talking about neuro linguistic programming and I was like, "That's it! That's what I'm talking about!" All of the pointless shit I collected, so many of my interests and even ideas I thought were my own were really(and this is just how it seems to me) embedded somehow into my subconscious.

Well, I don't know if I'm making much sense but I really feel they have much more advanced ways of influencing people. And if you think about it, most people have suffered some sort of trauma in life. I've had my fair share since early childhood.

Also, has anyone here ever gone to see a movie and come out of the theater feeling a certain way? I remember having an intense feeling of rage after seeing Natural Born Killers. I was 19 and the most passive, shy, sweet girl(unlike the bitch I've become- teehee) but I remember going to the restroom after that film and feeling like I wanted to kill. I'm being totally serious...it's like it triggered some buried anger from all the bullies and assholes that had tormented me growing up. I also remember feeling weird after seeing the Matrix but not in a violent way...just weird.

Anyway, sorry to get "off topic" but this subject is on mind a lot! :emb:

I think you're absolutely right. Certain movies do trigger violent reactions. I can remember a few years ago when I made a decision while watching a movie that was gearing up to some unspeakable violence being heaped on someone, I was all worked up.... and I thought "I'm not doing this to myself anymore". And I don't. I don't mind classic horror that's more psychological, and gives me the chills, but I'm done with the outright violence and gore fests. No more. I don't allow my kids to watch it either. I started watching the remake of Halloween with my oldest, but stopped about 10 minutes in where the main character starts beating another kid to death with a tree branch. I want to be sensitized, not "used' to over the top violence. You're more prone to stop something like that rather than allowing it if you aren't desensitized. I grew up in the '80's -- over the top Satanism in music, over the top violent horror films and others like Scarface, microwaved foods, the first era of home video and advances in video games, arcades everywhere. We didn't stand a chance.

I used to describe the same thing as you were saying above to people a few years back, and I had a great example when the "Friends" TV show was very popular, when everyone wanted the hairstyle... TV dictates how we look, the catchphrases we use, what we buy, sometimes the way we view world events, because news and documentary are based on some truth..... but it's all just flashing lights on a screen, and that is nothing if not a sure fire way to hypnotize. I'm trying to rid my mind of all my "TV memories".

When I feel I've overdosed on the nasty realities of the news & TV I read something like The Darling Buds of May for relief.

News orgs seek Colo. shooting documents in court

P. SOLOMON BANDA | August 9, 2012 03:29 AM EST |

CENTENNIAL, Colo. — News media organizations were set Thursday to ask the judge in the Colorado theater shooting case to unseal court documents and scale back a gag order that bars a university from releasing details about a former student who is the alleged gunman.

The Associated Press and 20 other news organizations want Chief District Judge William Sylvester to unseal documents that could provide the public with details about James Holmes and the massacre in Aurora on July 20...

I don't think anyone is being a "know-it-all". I've also heard people saying he did red because of Heath Ledger's nurse scene. The Joker is most known for having green hair. I doubt a young college kid decided to go all "vintage" Joker, but maybe? Who knows?

Also, and I'm not trying to argue, but the photos you posted of the Joker with Red hair kinda look like it's just a color distortion. I haven't seen the old Batman show since I was a child, so if you could find a video clip from the show with a red headed Joker, that would be nice. I still think that it would be a really obscure reference and I stand by the fact that the Joker is well known for having green hair.

:emb:

Yeah, I grew up in the 80's and was a big horror buff(especially the B-movies! :chuckle: ) but I feel the same about the torture porn that is produced today. I can't watch it. Actually, I try not to watch much t.v. at all. Got rid of cable- best thing I ever did! I am addicted to the show Fringe but this fall is the final season and I'm not getting wrapped up in any more shows!

badfish, perhaps trolling a more lighthearted thread is more your "speed". Oh, have you heard of blast chat? You don't even have to log in to the site to use it, and there's a really cool guy on there named sod you might like....

I've been watching the old Batman on ToonRetro with my son, he loves it. Cesar Romero's Joker definitely has green hair. For the most part, Heath Ledger's Joker had that straggly green hair, and Jack Nicholson's Joker did too. Not to mention the comic books; the Joker has green hair, white face, red lips, purple suit. Holmes' supposed Joker imitation is way off the mark.
