It is estimated that McDonalds, Visa, Addaiss and a few more will be given tax breaks worth up to £3 million pounds for being official sponsors of the olympics

This is not fair, nor right

There are a few online protests you can sign up to if you, as an individual feel this is wrong.

I think 38 degrees is the most 'powerful' one and likely to get it's voice heard but there may be others

If you have a conscious and want to make a difference please find your voice and say 'no this is not ok and is taking the piss'

Any company expense is deducted from taxable profits dawn.
This has been done for donkeys years :)

They laugh at the 'protests' and 'petitions'. Most of the government are in on it. Its no secret or conspiracy theory yet I never fail to surprise people when I explain I can offset taxes...

No , I understand that Andy , your area of expertise lies in IT mine lies in finance and banking ,however the tax breaks that are being offered are actually above and beyond the normal limits when you measure the investment/sponsorship from each corporation

EDIT ......that might not have come across right.......there is a huge difference though between corporation tax and personal tax for being a self employed business man .....I guess from your posts you run your own business, but personal tax, small business tax and corporation tax are three very different animals.

I've signed the 38 degrees thing.

What would really kick them in the teeth is if people stopped giving them money in the first place. I guess that's too much to ask. It's not as if McDonald's has had any negative publicity...

I'm really disgusted by the way the Olympics has just been turned into a money making exercise for private companies, all this stuff over G4S and the amount of money they're getting for not even providing the service they said they would is pathetic. Pathetic but absolutely typical. I wouldn't mind the companies making some profit if they were actually competent and delivering what they promised and paying fair wages.

In the UK yes you would be correct with all 3.
So what this is about basically is a business having expenses from advertising costs to reduce taxation on the one hand and ALSO getting some EXTRA tax breaks on top of that yep?

sort of but advertising in a corporation is not a deductable expense .......it is an investment

advertising is never written off in tax suituations. It's not an essential expense necessary for the ongoing success for the buiness

for example ....if you took out and advert on a Southern Ireland radio station, that whould not be seen by the tax man as a business expense , it would be seen as a business investment and therefore you would not be able to offset againest your tax liabilty

You're forgetting something dawn.
Business is only taxed on profits ;)

Do you think computers are an investment? lol :p

Did you know that advertising is a huge expense for many businesses? Have you ever wondered how they manage it? :p

Our opinions don't matter dawn :D

IMHO corporations shouldn't exist at all and neither should plc's, nor should we have a stock exchange trading shit that doesn't exist and nor should we have money printed out of thin air by privately owned banks who then charge interest for the privilege and business should be the ones paying tax because they're not human beings and human beings should not pay personal income tax.

There's no way any of thats going to happen ofc :D

I submit what I'm legally obliged to submit :)
I haven't 'avoided' anything!

If people are paying too much in taxation then they only have themselves to blame for it dawn.

As a result of people 'speaking out in protest' McDonalds has know stated it will not take the tax break offered by the government

They are apparently though stopping businesses from selling chips!
