No shock to most of us here but it's interesting to see estimates of the amounts involved.

Link:

A global super-rich elite had at least $21 trillion (£13tn) hidden in secret tax havens by the end of 2010, according to a major study.
The figure is equivalent to the size of the US and Japanese economies combined.
The Price of Offshore Revisited was written by James Henry, a former chief economist at the consultancy McKinsey, and commissioned by the Tax Justice Network.
He said $21tn is a conservative figure and the true scale could be $32tn.
A trillion is 1,000 billion.
Mr Henry used data from the Bank of International Settlements, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and national governments.

His study deals only with financial wealth deposited in bank and investment accounts, and not other assets such as property and yachts.
The report comes amid growing public and political concern about tax avoidance and evasion. Some authorities, including in Germany, have even paid for information on alleged tax evaders stolen from banks.
The group that commissioned the report, Tax Justice Network, campaigns against tax havens.

Mr Henry said that the super-rich move money around the globe through an "industrious bevy of professional enablers in private banking, legal, accounting and investment industries.
"The lost tax revenues implied by our estimates is huge. It is large enough to make a significant difference to the finances of many countries.
"From another angle, this study is really good news. The world has just located a huge pile of financial wealth that might be called upon to contribute to the solution of our most pressing global problems," he said.
'Huge black hole'
The report highlights the impact on the balance sheets of 139 developing countries of money held in tax havens that is put beyond the reach of local tax authorities.

Mr Henry estimates that since the 1970s, the richest citizens of these 139 countries had amassed $7.3tn to $9.3tn of "unrecorded offshore wealth" by 2010.
Private wealth held offshore represents "a huge black hole in the world economy," Mr Henry said.

Other findings in the report include:
At the end of 2010, the 50 leading private banks alone collectively managed more than $12.1tn in cross-border invested assets for private clients
The three private banks handling the most assets offshore are UBS, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs
Less than 100,000 people worldwide own about $9.8tn of the wealth held offshore.

Do you think this may be some ploy to try and cover bases for fractional reserve banks, and their creating money from nothing? It seems like it could be a way of trying to keep the system going by saying "it was there all along". What are your thoughts Andy?

What has interested me about the coverage of these stories is I have yet to see what impact this is having on the economies of the uk, america etc - it seems to be concentrating on either russia the middle east or countries we give aid to. To me it all goes towards even stricter tax and banking laws that wont end up affecting the super rich but will affect as usual middle earners and the self employed.

Well for starters the BBC reporting that there is $21 trillion salted away in cash (not just property remember) then it should by all rights cause superinflation because its more money in circulation than has actually meant to have been printed...'officially' at least.
Also the interest on such an amount would be...well staggering to say the least.

Also if this guys knows there is such an amount then he should surely know who has it yes?

Makes perfect sense to me.
Please mr govt tax the rich, thats all I see this being about.
We all know that the rich (the really fecking filthy rich) pass their wealth throught corporate entities and do not pay tax for more reasons than just offshore tax havens.

This is one of those topics people never talk about because the super-rich are the real top of the pyramid.

The end of the super rich will be when the world finally start to heal.

Conspiracy people will not accept this because they are entertained by the fear mongers.

I did an awful lot of research into the tax havens when the problems at Pompey first surfaced in 2008/9. It's fair to say that the "at least" section of the thread's title is correct. There is massive amounts of fiat that is hidden from the books. Unfathomable amounts tbh.

An awfully large percentage of this is fraudulent. Another large amount is effectively laundered from the proceeds of gun running, sex trafficking, drugs etc. The tax havens are not just the places that the corporate world uses to avoid tax, they are also the places where the "real" black market operates. Where the biggest criminals on the planet centre their finances.

This is a direct result of wealthy landowners who force these people off of fertile ground and into uninhabitable areas. These landowners don't want natives who have a right to this land to clutter up what they "own". Who's the wealthiest land owner(s)? The Windsors.

These people used to have grazing land, growing land, fresh water.... this is a slow painful genocide.

:chuckle: It is interesting given the discussions we were having about the Rothschilds and their ability to mask their true wealth. Sorry, couldn't resist. It's not an I told you so, because it still comes down to what you believe -- and I believe I was telling the truth. 21 trillion, and Goldman Sachs, who was mentioned, is under the Rothschild "umbrella". As I said to a former poster, the Rothschilds and their ilk could feed, clothe, house, medicate and educate the entire planet. Money means nothing to them anyway, they print it, and their wealth is measured in the power and influence that they have over other people.

The money flow isn't really dictated by trading, or markets, it's dictated by the people who print it. Economics and all of that are for people who aren't truly wealthy. I do know that 2.3 trillion went "missing" from the Pentagon in 2002-03 under Dandy Don Rumsfeld's watch, or more specifically Rabbi Dov Zakheim while he was comptroller.... it would be interesting to know where that went. Zakheim falls under that ":Rothschild umbrella" too, BTW.

No, most folks are aware of the banking cabal and what their influence is as far as wars, and economic crisis' goes. They own everything, they are the "elite" everyone refers to. Not everyone thinks it's shape shifters, or aliens. We do need to understand that their true nature is that they are psychopathic, which is why they don't care about human life except their own.

Once people understand that most societies around the world are made by these psychopaths then people can start to understand where societies have gone wrong.Modern societies are shaped in a way so that psychopathic people prosper and honest good natured people are the psychopaths quarry. :(

@ron
Whilst I wouldn't doubt or deny that the Rothschilds have an awful lot of fiat stashed away and off books through the havens, my research into Pompeygate showed me that there are many more from disparate backgrounds that similarly keep most of their wealth hidden from view in these places. This sort of thing transcends such publicly known allegiances as Zionism. The uniting factor (if there is one) between all these shady characters is basically greed. Backed up in no small part by a love of power.

No, the report specifically states the 21 trillion is what the guy can see in 3rd world nations, he said that its actually impossible to know about places like the UK. He's also specifically mentioned no names and the article is heavily biased towards taxation.
It makes no mention of whther this money is re-circulating back in to the economy or is kept out of it (for whatever bizarre reason), it mentions a long time period so I'm 'assuming' that this is money passing through offshore accounts over that time frame rather than specifically 21 trillion actually sitting in rothschilds account.

You need a bit more accuracy ron, less of the assumptions and heresay.

I didn'y say it was all in the Rothschilds account. I said it's interesting given how we were discussing that the rich have ways of hiding several trillion dollars and you scoffed at that. This is 21 trillion hidden by the "super rich". The Rothschilds manage the money of the super rich, if nothing else. Their hands are in this too. It's not hearsay to suggest that, it's an educated guess. ;)
