That's what I call a sensible and sustainable economy.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-20592984

According to this calculator:

www.guardian.co.uk/society/datablog/inte...wealthy-you-compared

£15,000 earnings after tax is the UK average, so if you saved absolutely every penny and went without food it'd only take you 133 years to save up for this house.

That is nice Jhado... could do with a bit more land though. IDK what it is with people and having just enough land to prop a house in the corner on, or living on top of each other so they can shake hands while they sit on the pot.

Have you ever seen that programme Place in the Sun: Home or Away?

www.channel4.com/programmes/a-place-in-the-sun-home-or-away
Jonnie Irwin and Jasmine Harman help property owners find the ideal new homes they've always wanted - but will they stay on British soil or settle on some distant sunny shore?
I've watched a few with my mum and I've yet to see anyone decide to stay in Britain.

Well unfortunately we haven't got the room here Stars, unless you are very wealthy.

But how about this, for £140.000....

Hmmm

50%
HAVE A LOWER INCOME THAN YOU
You are in the squeezed middle: income levels have not risen significantly and you're feeling the pinch

Thats a fair bit more than 15k....its me :D

I'm guessing you mean 15k is the modal income perhaps?

And on your land issues... time to re-do or go further north.

Still no room to have a bonfire!
I like the small areas to the house, less to clean, but it doesn't look like much outside.

I understand what you're saying, but there's the same problem with low wages and work round here.

To put it in perspective, this house is fairly near where I live, and you can't see it on the picture, but it's actually on the junction of the two main roads through this part of the forest. Don't you just love estate agents. :hahano:

www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/191697...bfe31fcdad1298fcc3a0

There's also this..
www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/177920...bfe31fcdad1298fcc3a0

or this
www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/266738...bfe31fcdad1298fcc3a0

You'd get a two bed cottage for 140K, maybe a 3 bed at a push.

Brand new houses which are premium prices despite being built of breeze blocks and papier mache, have the least garden space of all, typically.

That ones just for 'sporting' rights on the land, I'd wager you'll not get planning permission on it at all.
In which case its useless.

Doesn't mean I can't pitch a tent, stake my horses out and say I am there for "sporting" reasons :chuckle:
Nah, I didn't read through it... I have seen land like that going for around the same price in Montana and Wyoming before where the listing did say "ready to build" or something along those lines.
