A couple of my freinds have frequented China over the last 40 years especially during and witnessed the growth explosion first hand. One worked as a design engineer for Motorola on the early SatNav tech in Hong Kong. Whenever they went to the factories eventually set up, a government official used to acompany them to see the head staff there, any pricing or final deales were done through this person.

In doing things this way, the government has a stranglehold upon the true opium of China, The Physical Labour, the government also print their own money, and loan it out at zero % to new governmental industrialisation, this is why they can grow wt such a rate, they control the whole show, not any privateering outfits, of course the people are never going to benefit to their potential due to internal corruption.
