My first official post on this forum and I feel strongly about what they are doing.

A MAJOR bedroom tax protest in Glasgow expected to attract up to 8000 people faces being axed because two other marches have been approved for the same day.

The All Scotland Anti- Bedroom Tax Federation launched in Glasgow in April have already circulated details of the procession they had hoped would start at 11am on June 1.

However, after it emerged there were two other marches planned within the space of five hours, Glasgow City Council suggested the anti bedroom tax procession was brought back to 9am.

A report has revealed the protest organisers said it was not possible for the procession to take place at 9am due to participants coming from other parts of Scotland.

On the same day, a procession of 300 military personnel and armoury vehicles by the 1st Battalion Scots Guards is planned for 11am along Holland Street to George Square via West George Street for a civic reception in the City Chambers.

A procession has been approved for 2pm by the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland which is expected to attract 3000 to commemorate the Queen's coronation. It will head from Kelvingrove Park and follow the same route as the military parade to Glasgow Green.

A report being considered by councillors says while disruption in the city from two processions will be "significant it can be accommodated", due to there being a gap of about three hours between the morning and afternoon parades. It says after alternative times were rejected, police took the view the parade "cannot take place in this format, nor on the day requested" and a modified parade on a different day would be the "safest solution".

Basically evicting people who are at their most needy and making them homeless.
Another example....

A BLIND widow has been threatened with eviction over a £117 bedroom tax debt.

Helen Sockell faces losing her home of 25 years just weeks after the hated tax was implemented by the Con-Dem Government.

The 56-year-old, who lives alone and has a full-time carer, has been told by the SNP-Tory administration in East Ayrshire she could lose her home unless the rent arrears debt is addressed.

She lived in the house with her husband John, who passed away in 2005, and son Andrew, who also tragically died in the same year, aged 24.

Helen, of Kilmarnock, said: “If I lose the house, I just won’t be able to go on. I’ve thought of nothing else since I received this letter.

“I’ve got two extra bedrooms, just because of circumstances.

“This is the only home I’ve known for 25 years. Although I’m blind, I know my way around.

“I’ve offered the council to pay for one of the extra rooms but I can’t afford to pay for two.

the bedroom tax is another badly thought out policy that is actually costing the taxpayer more than they were originally paying.

i have two decades of experience working with and advising the homeless and I do recognise that there are people living in social sector housing that is far bigger then they need and that could be used to house homeless families desperately in need of safe and secure housing.

What is so insidious about the bedroom tax is that it financially penalises those who have nowhere else to go and particularly those who are vulnerable and being shipped away from their support systems to places they do not know and have no support.

families made homeless due to the bedroom tax are being rehoused in temporary accommodation that costs many times more than continuing to pay full hb would have.

This government is successively losing court cases over their welfare reforms - they have recently lost their case against two individuals who made a foi request over which companies are participating in the work programme - the atos assessments have been found to be bias against those with mental health problems and they have been told they cannot sanction people for not participating.

I am awaiting a test case against the bedroom tax - fingers crossed there will be a good one and this awful policy will be declared unlawful.

Let us know as soon as you do, thor.

Imo, this is just another step towards abandoning social housing completely, which is what 'they' ultimately want. Following on from this I foresee rents being adjusted to be more in-line with private rents which will make social housing defunct and pointless altogether. In fact, I think many housing associations are already doing this under the guise of 'affordable rent'...whatever that chuffin means.

Preaching to the choir here, shake.

And welcome - nice first post.

MP's and councilors = cunts of the lowest order.

Bedroom tax madness as mum faces eviction from home housing chiefs spent £60k making fit for her disabled son

A MUM faces being thrown out of the home she had specially adapted for her severely disabled son – because of the bedroom tax.

Louise Rennie, 40, had her home extended and kitted out with specialist equipment for Luis,
seven, who has cerebral palsy and is registered blind.

Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership spent about £60,000 adapting the Stranraer home for them three years ago – but now demand that Louise stumps up £80 a month for the two extra rooms created by the extension.

She is deemed to live in a four-bedroom property and faces eviction if she fails to pay the controversial charge imposed by the Department for Work and Pensions.

One of the “spare” rooms is used to store equipment for Luis, who can’t walk unaided and has various wheelchairs and walking frames to help him get around.

The other is a sitting room where Louise can grab a few moments on her own when respite carers come in to look after Luis.

Louise said yesterday: “DGHP were magnificent when it came to adapting the house, and I got everything I needed to help with Luis.”

The housing association built the extension and fitted a lift, so Louise can get her son into the house, as well as a tracking hoist to take him from his bed to a specially adapted bathroom.

How the fuck is she supposed to get full-time (or even part-time the way things are out there right now) work and care for her son?

I fucking give up...

Anyone going to the bedroom tax protest in glasgow today?

THOUSANDS of Scots will gather in Glasgow today to tell David Cameron exactly what they think of his wicked bedroom tax.

People from all walks of life and from all over the country will vent their anger at a despicable policy that only those without a shed of humanity could support.

For months now, the Record has been highlighting the horrendous impact the Con-Dems’ brutal cuts will have on the most vulnerable in Scottish society.

We have revealed how the poor, elderly and sick have been deliberately targeted to bear the brunt of a heinous attack on the welfare state.

Yesterday, we told the heartbreaking story of Louise Rennie, the mum of a severely disabled boy facing being thrown out of her adapted home in Stranraer.

The day before, we told how blind widow Helen Sockell was warned she could face eviction over bedroom tax arrears.

And today we reveal how gran-of-four Moira Laird has had council officials visit her Bannockburn council house to hound her over the tax.

They are just three examples of the horror that is playing out in thousands and thousands of homes across Scotland.

This sea of human misery is why the Record is backing today’s demonstration and will proudly take our place at the event.

It is simply unbelievable that this is happening in 21st-century Scotland. That it is being done deliberately by the UK Government is obscene.

The bedroom tax is fast becoming the most important political issue of our time and one that nobody can ignore – not least the spineless Lib Dems propping up this Government.

Nick Clegg and Willie Rennie should remember the poll tax and consider that Tory support in Scotland has never
recovered from that scandal. If the Lib Dems continue to be a part of this cruel Coalition, Scotland will never forgive them.

Not in that area, Shake. Hopefully it's something that'll spread across whole of the UK.
