I went to bed a few hours ago at 8:30pm because I was shattered after days of crap sleep and staying awake way too long. I ended up waking up at 1:30am and couldn't get back to sleep  I feel headachey, knackered, and very slightly mental :iitm: :chuckle:

I haven't had a good, regular, healthy sleeping pattern for 20 odd years I reckon, give or take. It can't be good for me.

How do you peeps sleep?

Do you have a good regular pattern, and if so, how do you maintain it?

I'd love to sort this out, it does my head in, probably my body too. I stayed awake the other day for 20 hours on about 3 hours sleep. Not good.

Nope. I don't believe I do have a healthy one.

Also got the 'bit mental' thing happening as I speak so I'll leave further comment until tomorrow lad ;)

Where did the other hour go? Did AbO pop round and slip something in your coco?

Sleep is overrated and it gets in the way of doing stuff.

I can't hack having a routine and other peoples routines make me cringe, especially when they do the same things everyday at the same bloody time for no particular reason, other than the fact that's what they always do everyday. And they think I'm crazy. :hahano:

Good question Frog! :chuckle: I must have been awake for about 21 hours then :O I've never like maths and stuff :D

Sleep is beautiful! It's respite from the world! It's very healing! When I don't get enough of it, I feel like shit.

I think it's modern living. In nature, people rise at dawn and sleep at nightfall (I would think). It can't be good for one's body and mind to not get enough sleep, or to have a constantly changing pattern.

I love my kip :D

I reckon my fucked up sleeping habits are effecting my hormone levels (that's my latest wild stab in the dark theory :D)

The only problem with the last bit you marked up in bold is that I suffer from an extreme case of procrastination, and have no concept of time management.

Well I do have a rather stubborn streak but I'm not sure about the habit that maybe explained better as a large dose of addictive personality disorder.

I'm afraid my mind and body require a decent routine, or I would probably have a meltdown - I suffered a physical & mental collapse at uni thanks (in part) to not listening to my body and giving it the rest it needed. As a sufferer of CFS/ME and a few other illnesses as well, I really need my sleep - a good 8 hours - but unfortunately I don't often get it. In an ideal world I would be asleep by 10.30 pm and awake at 6.30 am or so, ready for my morning meditation. Alas I'm often still awake gone midnight and then I sleep away half the morning! :(

I was on here until about 12 hrs ago, I had an hr watching some 'classic' Brit com on the settee, dropped off for about 20 mins and got awoken by the little one around 6.a.m, sorted her out and snuggled up to Mrs oioioi. Still awake at 7am to help feed the little un and get the big un up. 7:30am I'm left to sleep, 8:30a.m. I give up and come down for a single skinner...good job I did. The kids grandma had a flat tyre so I had to drive them all to their destination for the morning, got in 9:30, had some breakfast, a single skinner then off to bed again. Last saw the clock at 11:30, awoke at 2pm.

Just spent the last hr getting both kids off for their nap because mrs oioioi and grandma oioioi were already snoozing. Had a quick potter in the garden, about to change the flat tyre, quick shower then wake them all up!

Do I have a problem with sleep? No. Do other people have a problem with my sleep? Yes.
:dunno:

That's harsh man. It must be like having permanent jetlag.

My sleep pattern is completely buggered now. I have been freelancing since February and I am getting up earlier and earlier, sometimes 3:00am. Even when people know you've been up since bastard o'clock they still expect you to be sociable in the evening.

The mornings are the most productive for me because I feel more creative. There's also the added bonus of being able to get some peace and quiet.

About the missing hour...it's irrelevant :P I had three hours sleep, and then was awake for 20 hours, so it wasn't in a 24 hour window if you know what I mean, there is no missing hour, it's just the amount of a awake and asleep I had if those last few words make any sense :D

I went back to bed at about 5am, spent the afternoon sleeping. Some guy knocked about the new bathroom we're getting off the council at about 11:30 so I was ripped out of my sleep and had to tell him to call back another day :D I went back to bed, got up before, I could easily have stayed in bed I reckon.
So now I'm back in a crappy routine  But at least I feel quite refreshed and less mental :chuckle:

You could give melatonin a try to induce a restful sleep. It is a natural supplement that replaces what your body produces for sleep/sleepiness. I used it, normally take one and I am out within 30 minutes (although have taken two and been knocked out in under 10 lol).
Set a schedule for yourself, like you want to go to bed at say 10 PM, take melatonin at about 9-930, read a book in bed. Set an alarm clock to be up at a certain time, say 6-7 AM, do more stuff during the day to get your exercise and wear yourself out. Repeat process until pattern sets in and you can do it without the use of melatonin or an alarm clock everyday.

Regular sleep pattern? Had one...then the roommate moved in and it got all thrown out of whack (my own doing) now I lay there for a while before my body finally gives up (sometimes quite a while to the point it's nearing sunrise). Then to top it off, I just want to go back to sleep when it's time to get up. Me thinks it be time to reset the schedule via sleep induction with use of the supplement I just told you about. How did I maintain it before? 6 year old up at the break of dawn + all the normal stuff of daily life...by the time the sun went down, I was ready for bed.
I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone elses blood
and I have no problem with going out the same way

Thanks SC :) I'll look into the melatonin.

I used to read in bed every single night without fail. It's very calming and relaxing. I haven't done it for months though. I've been online too much and by the time I get into bed I fall to sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow :D
I've got a big pile of unread books on my beside unit, and it's getting higher :chuckle:

I'll get back into reading again soon.

And I'll start exercising again too, I haven't done that for ages. I like the night, and I like the dawn. Dawn has so often for me been bedtime, which is slightly odd I suppose. I might be a night person. But I love the sunrise. :lumi:
