Hopefully I'm not derailing the thread here, but the whole microwave thing is a complete myth.
There are two main types of radiation: ionizing and non-ionizing.
Ionizing radiation is the kind of radiation you come into contact with when you have an X-Ray or the type that’s used in nuclear power plants.
This type of radiation can be dangerous if you receive large doses of it because it has the ability to change your DNA and damage your body. It can cause cancer to occur in your cells, for example, and can result in birth defects if you’re pregnant.
Microwaves produce non-ionizing radiation.
Non-ionizing radiation doesn’t have the power to change your DNA and is not as dangerous as ionizing radiation.
The article goes on to say that leaking of radiation can be a hazard, but has never really been a huge danger,AND that the real danger of microwaves is the most mundane. Superheating of liquids that can cause very severe burns if spilled.
I have no clue how the whole craze that microwaves are bad for you got started.
Meh,but like I said in my post, people worry too much....we all die in the end,and when I go out it's gonna be drinking a huge bowl of superheated margarine from a straw.
Doc
I mainly got shot of mine because it made food taste like crap. Something simple like baked beans for example, done on the hob just taste so much nicer and don't take much longer.
I did read something about the heating process in microwaves doing something to food molecules that doesn't agree with your body, but can't for the life of me remember where I saw that.
Anyway, I have been mircrowaveless for a good year now, and the sky still hasn't fallen.
