My daughter just bought me a juicer to get me into a more healthy lifestyle and it's literally changed my way of eating habits. I was always one for cooking healthy meals anyway, but this is just something else. Now I juice everything I can and have cut down in cooking and go mad in the veg and fruit shops every couple of days to keep a stockpile. I've also lost a stone in two weeks.....I kid you not. I also feel more energetic and my skin is looking fresh and healthy.

Anyway, I'm still relatively new to the juicing trend and wondered if anyone else uses this as a lifestyle choice and if you want to share juicing recipes etc. :)

Ive done a few juice fasts with great results, it just gets a bit tedious cleaning the juicer every time. I have seen many recipes including garlic cloves but I do not recommend because the smell/taste gets like embedded in the juicer then all your juices taste like garlic. If you are going to juice ginger just do a teeny tiny bit cause it is spicy. I juiced mainly carrots and sometimes added apples or even cucumbers. The carrot pulp left over you can use for carrot cake :). I also juiced beets because I was trying to get my iron levels up but not very much juice came out of them and of course it tasted like dirt haha. Carrots are the best tasting I think. Juicing really does make skin glow!

What's the difference between a juicer and a blender? :dunno:

I tend to eat most of my fruit through a straw as it means I can add honey, ginger, and/or yoghurt to it.

A blender chops and blend whatever you put into it altogether. A juicer separates completely all the juice from the food so that you get a cup of liquid only out one end and a big clump of pulp is collected in a different spot. :)

Hi, I'd like to bump this.

I confess I've got out of the juicing habit these pat few months, but you re-inspired me.

Never thought about juicing beets. :)

Anyway, yeah, it is a bit tedious cleaning the parts, but I guess it depends on the model you have.

I juice carrots also, but hate carrot juice and like to add an apple or to to take the edge off, and I Am All That I Am mentioned adding a bit of lemon for better absorption. Oh, try a bit of Aloe Vera juice mixed in.

Thanks for this thread. :)

A really good thing about juicing is that u can add whatever you have juiced to recipes.

For example, i have a small fridge, but i will buy a huge bunch of celery, juice it, freeze it in small containers, and then can add to recipes for extra flavour , same with capsicums/peppers, etc.

Juicing is brill.

Also the juice itself is super yummy. I got used to cleaning the thingy, it gets easier after a while.

Nobody ever needs to juice garlic. Just smash it with the flat of the knife blade. ...

Juice anything for a yummy drink. Carrot, cucumber, celery, capsicum, apple, anything hard is good. ( Citrus fruit is not suitable)

Go, you juicy people, go, juice and love it.

With regard to freezing/storing... is there any truth in the idea that all the 'goodness' starts to dissipate once you 'break' open a piece of fruit or veg? If so what's the optimum time to get it down yer neck?

The thing is that if you don't eat it within 7 seconds all the vitamins etc have disappeared. yikes. could that be true? google it.

no , i just made that up..

see how many people believe lies.

Just don't worry about it at all ... take your OWN time. make the fruit you and you the fruit. go all ZEN.

or just eat or juice the dear darling dead little fruit. ( or the fucking fruit , if u like that better)

Just eat it or juice it.

The fruit is gonna die a horrible death in the blender/juicer, - pulverized to bits to provide you with nutrients.

The circle of life. Eat, live, die, and crap... and all that.

I got very dissed on a veggie forum once. I never went back, they were almost in tears over their murders, and yet they wanted to murder me for discussing the murder of innocent fruit and veggies.

Me? can you believe it, ffs. The kindest most loving person anyone would be lucky enuff to meet in their entire lives ever,.... apart from everyone else on here of course. goes without saying.

veggie and vegans are very violent. notice all those V's. yikes! :couch:
:fairo:
we need an anagram specialist here, novum comes to mind. :fairo:

the daddyo of anagrams, if i am not mistaken. which i may be ...

Just remember everyone - juicing is good, but it is also murder. yikes.

Cucumber juice is also very nice by the way. I hate to murder f and v , but tasty and good for us . :heart1:

I know a really good recipe for a cucumber cocktail!

And as for the fruit and it's goodness escaping, you were no help! :P I'm trying to win an argument with the other half that if I prepare the little uns fruit before we go to the park, then feed it to here maybe an hour or so after blending it that it has no nutritional value of any worth.

It will be all good! Better than giving the kids a stupid muesli bar or kitkat whatever, from the supermarket.

Just blend, and feed ... better than any junk. no worries. lol.
