...I got it! Bad! Caught a glimpse today of a certain part of my, ahem, anatomy which I don't normally get to see and there it was, in all its icky orange-peel glory! :aargh:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to reduce it that doesn't involve vigorous exercise? TIA! :D

Not sure... but I once heard that wearing panties without elastic in them helps keep you from getting it or getting more of it because it lets the blood flow properly or something like that. It was recommended that you buy and wear (if you wear panties) the ones that stretch (like boy shorts).
I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone elses blood
and I have no problem with going out the same way

Thanks, SC! Truth be told, most of my knickers are a bit "stretchy" - I've had 'em for ages! High time I treated myself to some new ones! :D :emb:

I have the perfect solution to this little problem, qg.

Do you perchance wear spectacles? If so, I have found that unsightly orange-peal can be massively reduced at a stroke by simply removing said spectacles. No physical effort required (other than removing those specs). It really is rather marvelous.

Failing that, cover all mirrors in your home with black fabric, as if in mourning. Jobs a good'un.

 My OH said much the same thing, abs! He said "Well, just don't look then!". Luckily he is completely unfazed by the cellulite, bless him!

Mandy - look up "dry body brushing". :) And never, ever be tempted to use anything other than a bristle bath-brush type thingy. Do NOT buy special brushes or products. :)

I can't see the back of my legs and my arse, so I just pretend the cellulite isn't there :emb: On the rare occasion I do see it (in a changing room when trying on garms) I simply go into a state of denial.

I'm a healthy weight for my height, not fat, but not thin either, but I've been really skinny and I still had it. Then again, fags and filter coffee form the cornerstone of my diet. These are supposed to be the worst culprits.

I read that body brushing is good and I have tried it, but tbh I'm not sure if it has made a difference because I make a point of not looking :chuckle:

The only way to really get rid of cellulite is hard exercise and lot's of good food and water.

@ lesley - I too am a healthy weight for my height. Cellulite is no respecter of persons though and will inflict itself upon fat and thin alike! I do drink a lot of tea - maybe that's a contributory factor?

@ pheony - thanks! The vigorous exercise is out I'm afraid thanks to the CFS/ME and what-not I suffer from, but I could definitely do with drinking more water!

Alas, DG, a quick Google has shown you to be not entirely right - men actually do occasionally get cellulite, but it is admittedly mostly women due to the fact that it is oestrogen-related. Men do produce a wee bit of oestrogen (and women conversely produce a wee bit of testosterone!), so cellulite in men has been known. I found quite a good article/thread on the subject, here...

Yep, looks like you're right Mandy...I stand corrected...

Women are more likely to have their body fat distributed near their skin, especially over their thighs, while men are more likely to have their body fat distributed inside their abdomen and belly. Therefore, women get cellulite more than men (although men can have it too).

So my beer belly is actually cellulite :D

Quietgirl, you're right, even skinny people are blighted by the dreaded orange peel. I've read lots about how cellulite is a modern phenomena, but that's not true. Rubens has captured it in all it's glory in the Three Graces!
