I made some of this but I put too much salt in it. It tastes totally different from the pasteurised crap that you buy in the shops. Very simple and good alternative to buying expensive and mainly useless probiotics.

Very cool! I've been reading a little about the benefits of fermented foods lately and I love sauerkraut. :thumbup: Kombucha is a great fermented drink and there are recipes and kits online if you want to make your own. I've been procrastinating on trying to make it myself but I like this brand that's sold in some supermarkets.www.synergydrinks.com/

I love sauerkraut too! Our local supermarket has a Polish section and they sell it in there. Very nice with bangers and mash! :D

I'm interested in trying kombucha too, k-bone. I have a recipe for it but have so far not tried it!

I feel super lame because one of my bosses even gave me the scoby mushroom and I can't find it! Doh! He made some really good kombucha with a peach flavored tea and some ginger- super yummy! I guess the fermented taste isn't for everyone but I love it! :D

I ate SO much of this as a child thanks to my Polish grandad. He made his own from time to time too.

It's something I'd completely forgotten about. Cheers for the reminder IIR :cool:

I've heard of this before but not looked into it. Interesting. What I do like about the kraut is that it's so easy and cheap to make, hence making us less dependant on buying so much.
