I think people have different levels of ability naturally, and plus, the more you do it, the stronger it becomes, like flexing over time increases the strength of muscles. So, unfortunately, there's variation, in that one Reiki healer could just make you feel pleasantly relaxed, while another might do the same things, but make you feel amazing, and your ailment may be gone or substantially alleviated. For that reason, it's best if you can get recommendations before using a practitioner.

Would it still work aswel if the symbols were different? Is it the symbols or the relationship to a symbol that lets you heal?
Can remember reading an old story of the buddha many years ago .
A healer had lost his healing ability and came to the Buddha for help. The buddha helped this yogi by giving him a very precious stone that had belonged to a whole list of great healers and told him the stone would awaken his healing powers.
A few weeks later the yogi had re awakened his healing ability and was healing people again.
That night the buddha crept into the yogi's house and took the precious stone back. The next morning the yogi came rushing to the buddha and told him he had lost the very precious stone.
The Buddha said dont worry that was just a stone i had picked up from the road when you came to see me.
The Buddha explained the stone was just a catalyst to awaken his own powers up.
Are reiki symbols just the same they could be about anything but is just away to awaken our own power up the same as yoga,holy spirit,jesus,etc.
