This is my first post here. hello! I've been meaning to ask this for a while because it's been troubling me for some time and little to nobody can give me any constructive advice other than to roll their eyes or reply with something sarcastic. When I'm not doing what my brother does, which usually involves munching on carrots and playing pranks on Elmer Fudd, I sometimes like to treat myself to a Chilli. I've had it at home, and at various pubs like Weatherspoons (I usually ask them to place it on the floor), it always makes me feel increasingly hungry afterwards, about half an hour to an hour later. And it's not even an average hunger either, it's a hunger that hurts until I eat something else like cereal afterwards.

The most constructive advice anyone's given me is that Chilli isn't technically designed to be a meal, and the worst piece of advice is, other than my dad rolling is eyes every time I tell him, is a sarcastic German girl saying congratulations for being the first person in the world to experience this. I'll nibble on her nose later, but for now I was wondering if anyone had any technical advice on why Chilli would disagree with my stomach like this.

Though I tend to put loads of veggies in it

I'm not sure it could be a spice allergy, I don't usually experience any of the symptoms of skin contact, usually just hunger pains. Though I am inclined to look into the possibility of intestinal absorption, because of the symptoms I described. But the clear indication of spices should make it clear on what to avoid in the near future.

Spicy food tends to agitate the digestive juices, thus you then need to bore them into submission with something bland.

When you make it yourself, do you serve with plain yogurt (or sour cream), grated cheese & chopped tomatoes (or home made tomato relish) to the top? I'm wondering if the addition of those things which make it more delicious, might counteract the irritant effect of the chilli on your gut?

Anyway to avoid this going off-topic, or me coming off as a troll, I think I sorted my issue with this. My mum told me that it's something to do with the nutrition, and that it's natural to become hungry again because of how fast the body absorbs it. Guess this goes hand in hand with the information of spice allergies (even though I don't think I have one) feather linked me to.
