How do you feel about drug dealing in your community? I left my home town many years ago .When I came back 15 years later alot of friends had died from over doses etc. I seen the negative impact heroin /crack had on my home town. Yet the courts are giving these scum bags very small sentences.

Im not talking about soft drugs im talking about hard drugs like heroin/crack etc

I know the economy is going down and we all need to make a living but should we ever sympathise with these dealers?

I know the bankers are a bigger problem  oi oi oi

I worked in drug/alcohol for a few years so know a little bit more on this subject.

One of the main problems that i saw was addicts waiting for beds to come up in detox centers and dying be for they got in to detox. Sometimes it took clients months to get refer to detox center.

Legalise it.

Or legalise weed at least. I don't do drugs (except caffeine) but I think whole weed being illegal thing is utterly preposterous.

I think the OP is too vague. There are as many types of drug dealer as there are dealers. Some may do fair, unadulterated 10 bags for trusted friends, others may sell dirty shite outside schools.

To lump them all together is crazy.

I suppose cutting to the chase is in order here again. So who do you think is behind this problem? And it is a problem, I'm not disputing that.

The problem with heroin is the people that use/abuse it, not the drug itself. The same applies to other substances.

Should it be down to a dealer/pharamacist/head shop/pub landlord to use discernment and only sell to those that they feel are responsible users? Maybe.

To lump dealers together under the term "scum" belies a lack of insight and understanding. It shows a mindset that is geared for generalization rather than critical thought. It smacks (pun intended) of tabloid mentality.

I can't agree with that dubs. The majority of drugs are based on an individuals informed decision to take them. Heroin users quickly discover that the heroin starts making the choice for them. This makes it extremely dangerous and the main reason it's 'taken' so many people.

I took heroin for a long time without becoming addicted or stealing. I have an addict friend who has been that way for 20 odd years. He has always worked and holds down a "normal" life.
I also know people that got addicted and took to robbing very quickly........
The same drug, many ways of interacting with it. Just like booze/weed/coke etc.

Guess maybe it's all down to personality then. Though it has to be said, there are more people fucked up on heroin than other recreational substances.

It is a combination of personality, circumstance and physiology i think. I wouldn't back the statement that "there are more people fucked up on heroin than other recreational substances" personally. Booze for example has way more casualties annually and is a far greater burden on society.

How do I feel? I feel like the biggest drug traffickers of all (shadow government) should be shut down. Its destroying the spirits of people who are already broken and breaking those who were once very strong. This is when true disharmony and discord began to prosper in the poor ghetto communities.

And Big Pharma is another that needs to go. Prozac, Oxycotin and all those other mind-altering anti-depressants are the culprits behind the suicide epidemic and violent behaviour. People sell those to one another in drug dealings, too.

Also, instead of a person getting jailtime for 'abusing' a drug, there should be treatment centers for that instead. I think its ass backwards to lock up a crack addict for using instead of administering treatment. And weed?! Needs to seriously be legalised. The only reason they want it banned is because it will put alot of their corporations out of business. Mary Jane has not been connected to any fatalities or suicide that I know of.

No I wasn't addicted. I took it a lot for a long time though. I didn't crave it, I just enjoyed it. When I decided I didn't want it in my life anymore I just stopped using it. The same as I did with booze and the thing that I HAVE been addicted to, amphetamine.

I think I did say my friend is addicted :P

Good question :D
With heroin I literally felt nothing when I stopped. With booze, I had cravings for many many months. Not to get wasted but to just have a few beers. Those cravings had gone within a year. With amphetamine, I became house bound for about a month. If I stepped outside, demons would swoop down and attack me. The voices in my head tormented me. I went yellow. I had bona fide hallucinations. It wasn't pleasant. But I was resolute and the effects of withdrawal wore off.
I must say that cannabis was a great help with both the booze and the speed :)

This maybe an answer. The biggest problem with weed is alot of dealers spray liquid glass on it to make it heavier.

The main damage is not to the addicts its mainly the addicts girlfriends, wives, etc Ive seen some families really screwed up this way. Can remember a bus driver who was a secrete heroin addict. His wife was begging me to do something because all of his wages were going on to drugs and not paying mortgage or bills or food in the house.

Anyway they lost the mortgage for their house because he was wasting all the families money on drugs and he was getting his drug from a trusted friend he had known for years. This trusted friend was using his friends money that should of paid his friends mortgage to fund a holiday for his family and pay their mortgage off instead.

Its not just the addict who suffers.

Well I must that you are very lucky. I know a few folks that are shackled to heroin. They seriously want to quit but their body needs it. They literally get very sick. Crack addicts are chasing the euphoria the first high brought to them. This is what I learned in a drug class I had to take for a job in the past, that certain drugs are extremely difficult because of the psychological and physical dependencies. Same with the Big Pharma meds.

Good thing you didn't let it destroy you! Mary Jane seems to be the innocent one in all this.

:fraid:
That does sound extremely unpleasant! :O

I get caffeine withdrawal; headaches, fucked up concentration, a syrupy brain, a bit prickly. I feel like Roy Sheider now in Jaws when he's about to show his scar and he realises it's crap compared to Shaw and Dreyfus' scars, and stories :D
