D'oh Abs you've changed your avatar. I blame that box-toting buffoon.

I went for an interview yesterday, 'cause I only took that other job as a stepping stone t'other week, till I could at least get something nearer home & better pay.

So, as is customary these days, the recruitment duffer emailed me 13 pages of tosh from the company in question to prep. Among it was a list of their 5 'values', so that you could use their 'buzz words'. (Oh how I fucking hate it all!)

One of those values is "Fun". :hmm:

So they give several bullet points to define what they consider to be having fun. It's stuff like, "Occasional gags at a competitor's expense", for eg.

Then it defines what 'having fun' isn't...

-Being irrelevant.
-Being Charlie Chaplin (slapstick).
-Being Jim Carey (wacky). :O
-Being offensive, unnatural or inappropriate. Furking spoil-sports!
-Behaving unprofessionally.
- Fun on the outside, grim on the inside.
-Compulsory fun all the time.

As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to bring it to your attention so that you could be outraged.

Also, Oi, they named 'anarchy' on their list of what NOT being what innovative & challenging is (another of their values). :O

Jeepers woman, what type of job do you do again? I can't repeat what I'd do with that list.

Have I read that right, anarchy is neither innovative nor challenging? Someone's never tried it!

And a whole page defining fun kinda takes the fun out of it!

That list is only a tiny fraction of the BS. I blew them out a few weeks ago, even though they're on my doorstep & pay quite well, but they wanted me to go or an 'assessment day'. I've had to do those several times in the past, and they are infuriating. I just decided they could fuck off, as it's only corporate credit control (as opposed to, say, brain surgery) which I've years of experience in, and at my age, I don't feel like going dancing about all day for the entertainment of egotistical twerps.

But the agent asked me if I'd go if they agreed to just conduct a half hour interview instead, so I said yes (while wondering what would motivate them to be so accommodating) :D

I know why now - when I got there, one of the senior managers used to be my boss years ago (probably the only one I've ever liked & respected) and it was him who the agent had emailed my CV to, so I got preferential treatment.

Cheer

He couldn't interview me though, so I still had to do 30 min's of those dreadful 'competency based' questions.

Exactly!

If you've not applied for a job round here for a couple of years, you wouldn't believe the nonsense you have to endure.

:D They're not sure whether I'm the bees knees or an eternal blight on their happiness, as I've found errors on their system left, right & center that should give them nightmares, and the staff who've been there for years haven't noticed.

The only time I've ever been sacked was when I was about 14 & worked p/t in a filling station. They'd installed an intercom thingy in the kiosk without my noticing, and were listening in while me & a customer were slagging them off (2 strange brothers & a sister - mutant inbreeds).

Why did you have your brothers in your workplace playing with the intercom?
Ohh .......... I see what you meant. :emb:

Good luck with the job girl! :rose:

Don't let the obvious nepotism and you elbowing all those youngsters in the face as you push to the front, keep you awake at night though.
I'm sure Tesco/workfare will find them something ........ eventually.

It's not nepotism - my lovely one wasn't allowed to interview me. I got it though, and don't feel a bit guilty. I was washing up & waiting tables & chamber-maiding in a hotel from 15 till finishing college, and have done plenty of drudgery. It was fun at the hotel though, as the chefs were all mental.

They were usually drunk and always doing something entertaining. And the huffs and obscenities if anyone complained about their food!

They used to buy us a lot of lager too. :)

The chefs at this particular hotel, I remember the most. Bloody good laughs we had.

I would also like to note that after I was inevitably sacked, I was also banned forever from that place twice and escorted from the premises on both occasions :D

Hiya. No, I left the accountants before it drove me mad from sheer boredom.

Got another job that is less tedious, but less money & half an hour's drive each way, so wanted something in Preston, which I'm starting next week. I expect I'll be sick of that in a fortnight, but it'll keep me out of mischief for a bit.

How come you'll be sort of homeless? Have you got a buyer for your house?

I've been sacked from quite a few jobs....mainly because I have a problem with 'management' who are as thick as pigshit & twice as useless who always shift the blame onto the people below them for their own bumbling incompetence.

Euro Car Parts, Trafford Park Manchester, are you reading this you :fap: ers?

STFU.
