OK. Even when I had a wisdom tooth out at the hospital in Newcastle they only used local. But come to think of it, when my son wouldn't open his mouth for the dentist once, she suggested sending him to hospital to get 'knocked out'. (I just coaxed him to open up).

Fish hook sounds nasty.

Yeah, the fish-hook was one of those big barbed razor sharp thingies, it was feckin' sore, but the folks at the wee hospital were brilliant, we had a great laugh All my mate could go about was how I owed him a new hook!

It depends who you get too. The last needle whatsit I had in March took a lot longer & was much more painful, I think because it was a trainee doing it under supervision. The bloke today was much more proficient - it just stings when they inject the pain-killer, but as that wears off afterwards, it bugs. It feels cut, and the gland swells up like when you've got tonsillitis, so you can't swallow properly.
