Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds musical interpretation kicks the arse off the film, even with dated synths, phil lynott overacting, etc.

This would have been a better treatment.

I haven't seen the film or read the book, but the War of the Worlds album is brilliant.

Read War of the Worlds & The Time Machine when I was 10 or 11, along with some Jules Verne & John Wyndham, so it might be time to read them again.

I much prefer D H Lawrence to Hardy, Abs, though it's decades since I read any.

Years back I thoroughly enjoyed Tom Sharpe's books, but hated the televised version of Blott on the Landscape despite a good cast, and so deliberately avoided the Wilt film.

I agree with your call on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.
That was a damn intimidating task and imo they did an incredible job.

I think Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh did do a great job, on lord of the rings, unfortunately i fell asleep in first, one Second one don't remember and the last lord of the rings couldn't be arsed at all,

Did a great job as in, putting the country on a map, Mrs BC's cousin and there other half are lighting technicians worked on LOTR and King Kong as well And the Hobbit movies

But the best actor died that was in LOTR Hercules........died in 2004 aged 12

I love Nigella...but let me tell you for why.

It's not that she is filthy, although I do look for that in a woman, but I once watched an episode of her show and it had me in stitches. I was never sure if she was being tongue-in-cheek with it, but the she was talking about making the best use of her time when the kids went to school. Anyway, she starts cooking and being suggestive then says something like "just enough to time to get the kids off to school". At this point, you might think she mean't washing, clothing, making sure teeth had been brushed, then piling them all in the 4x4 and rushing back to tend to her cheesy baps, busy working mum that she is.

Cut to her, stood outside her town-house, waving at the kids as their private school bus drives away.
