Spirits and rituals ya say? Not helping your case woman

There was comment here re it all being one big ritual, but it's based on all manner of rituals pre-dating monotheism, with bits & bobs added from all over the world over time, and all religions, strangely. I did used to know some of it, but forget loads of what I've read in the past. It's quite interesting really. I'll bore you with it when I've had chance to get into it.

What plans do folk here have to celebrate new year's eve?

I'm one of those new year miser type peoples

Lot of shit over nowt far as I'm concerned. This might have summit to do with the fact that I haven't gone out on new years since I had my first child 22 years ago due to lack of people available that I'd actually leave my kids with... guess we'll never know

Last time I went out on NYE was when Sarah was a tiny sprog. We got my mum's sweet old neighbour, Winnie, to babysit. When I told Sarah, she wanted to know whether I meant Winnie the Pooh, or Winnie the Old.

There's a fair few headed down the local so i'll probably nip down there for a few.
Not cos of new years eve per se. More cos i do like getting sozzled with em.

Aye gilly. Yon boy and me had a bottle each washed down with other stuff. The wrassling got dropped in favour of an epic light sabre battle.
Yon boy used the dark side and hit me over the head hard and repeatedly whilst i booted up....
So i was quite badly injured before the actual battle. Which i lost cos my lungs didnt want to stay in my chest after the first 5 minutes.
I subsequently conceded, drank more port and licked my wounds.

It was a great reminder of the difference between 30 summat and 40 summat

edit: just realised yoh were asking about the day after yeah, the fresh air between here and the sheds sorted me out no end. Mucking out was a breeze

Despite the ugliness of consumerism attached to Xmas, you can still appreciate it when someone's provided you, lovingly, with a gift, imo.

While my son had us buy a small fortune's worth of Skylanders to add to his collection (amongst other things) his favourite thing was a onesie off my mum, which he now refuses to be coaxed out of into proper daytime clothes...
