In an hour and a half I am going to the house next door to get a quick run down on how to be a Caregiver for an 86 yr old woman. Her daughter lost her last Caregiver and needs someone for a few hours today, and at sporadic times in the future. I have never done anything like that before. Fixing her meals, helping her get in and out of bed, and.... changing her diapers. And that is the part that worries me a little bit because I can feel myself retching already.

It's decent, much needed money, though. I hope they have a computer. I am sure they do. Everyone does nowadays, though, right? Bringing a book just in case. They have a pretty brown cat and his name is Chico. I have never even met or seen the mother before.

I'd refuse to call the cat Chico though, because it would always remind me of an X Factor (or one of those crappy programmes) contestant I saw once a few years ago, who my dark side wanted to silence.

Well tonight's the night I get to listen to my boy's school, and all the other local primary schools singing - for 2 and a half hours.

Yes, that's right, a full 2 and a half hours of dreadful howling delightful harmonies to enjoy.

I still have night terrors fond memories of my daughter taking part in this event 9 years ago. It seems like it was only last week.

This musical torture treat is enhanced even further by the fact that my children never actually want to partake in the horror show, but are brow-beaten encouraged by sadistic enthusiastic ghouls teachers, and so glower, mime, and pick their noses, drifting in & out of sleep, quite charmingly throughout.

You should try to resist your envy.

^ And not that anybody gave a toss about my plight anyway, I have been rescued, due to th'usband's mistakenly having ordered only 1 ticket. So he gets to go and experience the performance.

I made some coffee in one of those European stovetop perculators and forgot about it. I did not hear it percolate. Then I smelled burning rubber and that is when I remembered. I poured it in a cup and it smells funny. Is there burnt rubber in there or did the liquid capture the aroma? The pot is too hot to handle right now and I don't know if the rubber gasket melted into my coffee and I have to wait to make a fresh pot (assuming the pot is not damaged). I took a small sip and it tasted okay but I think I'll refrain more drinking the rest. I hope the pot isn't ruined. What would I do then? A pan and strainer?
