So Gremlin shows up here, and within a couple of posts he's told us 'it's teh Jews', and starts a thread with the word 'nigger' in the title.
What a grade A* twat.

I thought the video & poem were quite funny. But yeah ok I can think of a million other ways to rename the thread. None of which would have gotten it quite so many views.
I think Jay-z's argument about 'taking the power out of the word' is complete bollocks. And what's up with his laugh??
Scary.
I'm not entirely sure gremlin deserved the name calling/abuse, just based on past form at another forum. It's a clean slate here right?
Just for the record, I am completely anti racism. We are all people. Some are clever, some are stupid, some are sweet, some are bastards, some are yellow, some are pink, some smell of roses and others stink.
I'm just amazed at the reaction you can get from six letters.
One of my best friends is Indian. One time, his father was on his way home from work and stopped off at a Chinese take away. While he was waiting to be served he called us to ask if we'd like order something. The telephone conversation went something like this:
My friends father: "Hey, I'm at the chinky, do you want anything?"
Chinese person in the background: "NO SAY CHINKY!!!!"
My friend: "huh? what was that?"
father: "erm yeah I'll call back, hold on"
My friends father meant no offence whatsoever, it was just a word he used all the time. He's not racist. And he loves Chinese people, especially their heavily msg laden take away food. If it'd been a white person saying 'chinky', I'm not sure we'd have eaten any Chinese food that night.
If gremlin sits at a laptop peering through the wholes in a white pointy hat, then fair enough I'm certainly not defending anyone.
I did have a point about the 'n' word. Can't for the life of me remember what it was now.
If I called some of my mates cu#ts they'd laugh it off or wouldn't even bat an eye lid. If I called someone I didn't know a cu#t, then it's fist's at the ready.
So slinging around the word 'nigger' as a joke just doesn't cut it ANY which way you look at it.
The vid posted by the OP was funny in it's context.
The intentions of gremlin aren't in the same vain, his intention is to shit stir and thats not funny especially when it come to subject such as this.
Oh lighten up everyone geez. The poem wasn't derogatory at all,and the thread title describes what Grem was posting.
No need to get the torches and march after Grem for that.
Hell I live in the Southern US, 30 mins away from where the KKK formed. I showed this to a black friends of mine and he laughed.
There's no need to go on a crusades on every topic dealing with race on here.
Just my two cents.

I'd agree with Doc if it was a one off. It's when you look at the pattern and the recurring theme that Gremlin's posting on that it alters people's attitude toward the thread title & poster.

@doc to clarify the title of the thread was contextualised by a mod - grems title was merely works like a nigger and lacking any sort of context.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

Ah well thank you for clarifying. However, that is the title of the video.
Look I'm not one to condone racism at all,but I like to give Grem the benefit of the doubt here having known him for a while in DIChat.
He never struck me as the type to be overtly racist, nor to troll a board that many of his friends are members of for no good reason whatsoever. I could be wrong, but like I said,it's just my opinion. I hate to see SZ spiral into a bunch of arguments over semantics when it's not necessary.

PS.
Also to what you said Gilly. Perhaps his titles and such have been a bit controversial for controversy's sake, but I consider it to be more tongue in cheek than baiting anyone. It's like my vampire thread. I sort of subtitles it "My Time with the Vampires, or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the taste of Human Blood" even though in the op I explain that I did try my own once and hated the taste. It made for a funny tongue in cheek title. Just my take on all this.

So If a black person posted it it would be ok would it?
I dont care what colour, gender, religion, sexuality, age, race, culture - some things need context in order for them not to be inflammatory - the thread title being a wonderful illustration - I am not sure how you managed to get that skin colour makes any difference when creating a thread title from the above quote.
Here have a chisel - go work on that chip on your shoulder...

I wonder if all people in the world would turn grey, what would be the topic then? What to fight over? eyecolor or hair length? Oh wait, I've heard bs about those already!
Goddammit my badgerdog is better than your german shepherd, interbreeding since 19th century works wonders on race you know. It's so important blaablaablaayaddayaddayadda.
The things you leave behind, you find in front of you.
So If a black person posted it it would be ok would it?
The simple answer to that is no.
Even though some black people use the word to refer to other black people in a supposedly 'cool' way (Lauren Hill for example), its an offensive word full stop. In my opinion.
I'm not entirely sure gremlin deserved the name calling/abuse, just based on past form at another forum. It's a clean slate here right?
Well so far he's used that clean slate for "it's the jooz!" and "someone said 'nigger!".
Fair enough. Well he's got a bit of a spotlight on him now. I don't have any qualms about discussing issues of race/religion etc, but in a constructive, respectful way. What bugs me is when people don't take into account that TBTB use these types of issue to keep us little people fighting amongst ourselves. I've said it a million times and I'll keep saying it, divide and conquer, united we stand divided we fall. If gremlin is attempting to get DIFfy, it won't work here.

Constructive and respectful? I'm yet to see race thread with those qualities... The people who start these threads seem to be, without exception, the very same people who have biggest trouble to cope on the reality that people are always the same no matter the colour.
'Normal' person who's not offended about existence of black, red, white or yellow or purple do not start these talks... Why?? There's no need to! That's why!
Race is just what it is, a non issue. Imigration on the other hand is different thing, but thats not about race.
Come on forumnazis, beat me upnfor saying this!
