Hurray! I'm all excitable, because I've just booked onto an beginner's archery course. They're fully booked till next April, so I've to wait till then, but I shall pretend I'm Galadriel. :yup:

You start with a recurve bow, and can then join the club if you fancy it, and can progress to cross-bow, and / or long-bow. I quite fancy all 3, but will see how it goes.

I love learning new things.

That sounds like it will be fun. I think I'd have to pretend to be Robin Hood though. The Errol version and not that modern muppet.
I hope you get to shoot apples off heads instead of boring 'safe' things like straw targets.

When's the little bundle of joy due, Pheony?

Hi Gilly. :)

January...They have been out of the country for a while, so waited until they got back to tell me.

I'm very excited. :)

:) Babies are the most gorgeous things - I'm not surprised you're excited!

I won't see my nieces baby in the flesh for a while, as they live a good distance away, but they emailed me a couple of photos, and I can feel that little girl's weight nestling in my arms when I look at them.

It's lovely when you're getting their wind up, rubbing their backs while you support them under the chin with your other hand, so that they look like they've got little chipmunk faces. :chuckle:

Yes indeed. I shall pretend I'm William Tell when I'm doing that. :D

I've just finished a short story! The first one I've written for ages! Not thought of a title yet, though - I always find that really hard!

If this isn't good news, I don't know what is.

www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/sep/14/chr...rewell?newsfeed=true
Chris Moyles bids himself a fond farewell

Unfortunately, it's not an obituary, but here's an extract from the article regarding his final Radio 1 Breakfast Show:
I don't wish to cause undue distress to his bereft fans, but this was the most mawkish, self-congratulatory, portentous broadcast I've ever heard emit from the BBC. It was carefully humourless, to maintain its respectful tone. Everything someone might say about a breakfast show at an awards ceremony, while the DJs shuffled on the spot and looked at their feet, they said about themselves. For three and a half hours.
The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment. The true measure of a man is this: how quickly he can respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give - Philip K. Dick.

This would be a cracking good news headline...

www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/sep/14/bbcfinalbroadcast

Aunty Beeb drew her last breath today as the doors closed at the BBC center following the farewell address delivered in the corporations final broadcast. Ending an 85 year chapter of pure propaganda, that literally sucked the brains out of every generation subjected to it's politically lead brain washing campaign.

Cue EU International Anthem - Fade to black with little white dot melting away center screen.

Yahoo! Finally got a phone call from the hospital at about 8.30pm tonight, giving me a date for gallbladder to be removed.

This may seem a strange thing to celebrate, but being in considerable pain for a lot of the time, despite the zombifying painkillers, and throwing up most days have led me to look forward to this event.

It's not till 18/10, but at least I can tell my employer now, and put him out of his misery.

Plus, even though I'm an NHS patient, it's in a private hospital, which is a whole lot nicer that Royal Preston Vermin Hole. :)

Cheers, Mikey. I'm looking forward to it being over & done with, as I seem to have become immune to the pain-killers in the last couple of weeks. they're not even making me sleep through the night any more.

And I'm chuffed to bits, 'cause I called my boss today to give him the news, and he was just so nice, saying they'll just be over the moon to have me back, and not to try to go back before I'm fit.

I think I'm very lucky. Well, either that or there's a guardian angel involved. :D

*Edit* Thank you, Mandy. Your good wishes are very much appreciated. :)

Will they let you keep it? In a jar?

Sketti wears bits and pieces like that round her neck (or rather, the area where you'd expect her neck to be). Looks nice.
