A subject that seems to be mentioned quite a bit on certain forums , so, is it real or just paranoid delusion?

Some of the reports point to methods such as electronic harassment and harassment by individuals in the flesh.

Have you encountered this type of psychological warfare or do you know of anyone who has?

Thoughts, if you will :)

It is real and happens a lot in the workplace,if you notice the true definition of this it has meanings that go from the extreme to just simply keeping someone out of your social group.

You can be a victim of this at work and not even know it,and the main ringleader and the persons involved could act like your friend,it is very sinister and wicked, because instead of being upfront about the dislike of someone they try to hurt them in a cowards way

Also like the people who have two or more user names on a forum, so they can have a dig at others..... thinking that no one will guess who they really are.

One of our early and valued members has been suffering from this for a long time. That person has now taken a sensible path and got out of dodge. I for one am still wishing them all the best

I'm a bit on the fence about it.

The amount of organisation needed, I don't know, are there gangstalking social clubs? Do memebers get called up and given a name and a place and told to go there and harrass the victim?

It's interesting stuff. On the surface it seems completely paranoid, delusions of persecution, but who knows? Who's to say that it doesn't actually happen to people?

There are many videos on youtube about it, general consensus points to it being used in US mainly, it has been going on for years over there.

I have just watched some videos , it is quite scary stuff.

People have been made mentally ill or killed themselves over it. :(

People should be fucking locked up for that.

Psychological and health effects

Victims of workplace mobbing frequently suffer from: adjustment disorders, somatic symptoms (e.g., headaches or irritable bowel syndrome), psychological trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression.[9]

In mobbing targets with PTSD, Leymann notes that the "mental effects were fully comparable with PTSD from war or prison camp experiences. Some patients may develop alcoholism or other substance abuse disorders. Family relationships routinely suffer. Some targets may even develop brief psychotic episodes, generally with paranoid symptoms. Leymann estimated that 15% of suicides in Sweden could be directly attributed to workplace mobbing.[9]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobbing#Psychological_and_health_effects

Here is a checklist:

1. By standard criteria of job performance, the target is at least average, probably above average.

2. Rumours and gossip circulate about the target’s misdeeds: “Did you hear what she did last week?”

3. The target is not invited to meetings or voted onto committees, is excluded or excludes self.

4. Collective focus on a critical incident that “shows what kind of man he really is.”

5. Shared conviction that the target needs some kind of formal punishment, “to be taught a lesson.”

6. Unusual timing of the decision to punish, e. g., apart from the annual performance review.

7. Emotion-laden, defamatory rhetoric about the target in oral and written communications.

8. Formal expressions of collective negative sentiment toward the target, e. g. a vote of censure, signatures on a petition, meeting to discuss what to do about the target.

9. High value on secrecy, confidentiality, and collegial solidarity among the mobbers.

10. Loss of diversity of argument, so that it becomes dangerous to “speak up for”or defend the target.

11. The adding up of the target’s real or imagined venial sins to make a mortal sin that cries for action.

12. The target is seen as personally abhorrent, with no redeeming qualities; stigmatizing, exclusionary labels are applied.

13. Disregard of established procedures, as mobbers take matters into their own hands.

14. Resistance to independent, outside review of sanctions imposed on the target.

15. Outraged response to any appeals for outside help the target may make.

16. Mobbers’ fear of violence from target, target’s fear of violence from mobbers, or both.

Judging by reading on it, they sometimes start off with maybe a few then others get roped in to the game, they end up being stalked by people who don't even know them. Organisations have been blamed on doing this to people too , (that's worse), some have said even the police or military or governments can do this to people.
I, for one, sincerely hope not.

You would be surprised how idiotic people would react to certain situations, behind the wheel some people can get nasty, I encountered one night as I was driving home from somewhere, I decided to stop by a supermarket (in an area unknown to myself) to pick up some items, upon leaving, rather then take the long road out I used a junction to turn around in, as I turned, some other driver decided to turn in to the road I was turning in and he took the corner a bit fast and had to stop quickly because I was still turning, so he glanced at me with an impatient and evil look, so I carried on moving and he spun around like a lunatic and started driving right up my rear, so I thought, he will go away in a minute (he didn't) he kept tailing me for miles, so, myself being the quick thinker I am thought I would teach him a lesson, I drove through an area that was massively covered with cctv cameras with big signs all around, (just in case I needed to get details for future reference ;)) at the next junction he decided to turn off. :chuckle:

One thing to be on the alert about is someone who acts act like the grammar police on a forum, and it gets to the point where people are in fear of this individuals comments.

Because of his/her constant ridiculing or correcting of any particular poster,or posters as a constant thing.

And eventually the gang mentality kicks with some others there to gain the grammar freaks acceptance, and this grammar freak gains control and acceptance from the so called grammatically educated on a particular forum.

It's a intimidation tactic and really can upset a forum member

And set up on a pedestal of power on that forum the grammar freak

Another example would be a mod that has another account not known to members. Then you're going to an entirely different level as to how this can be abused..... if the mod has a dislike of certain posters.
