An example of how much weirdness there is in UK insurance companies.

My Mk2 is insured with Direct Line at a cost of £29 per month fully comp.
I got 2 quotes from them today, a 1.0l Corsa at £25.60 PM and the A4 at £37 PM ( I checked the Mk2 for comparison and they quoted at £31 PM even though I now have another years no claim and all my points have gone from my license this year)

Ms dub went on that Meerkat site and I've just got a quote on the A4 of £24.60 PM.

So by having a 5 minute look at quotes I've got a quote £13 PM cheaper than the company I've been with for years and cheaper than that company quoted me for a 1.0L shite corsa...........

I've been wanting to leave Direct Line since the accident (when they were appaling), it seems that today may be the day

Been looking at some matra murena's for restoration proj meself

I bought it It's a nice car with all the toys and they all work. There's a few things to do on it but nothing major, most of it is polishing out the scratches, which i started straight away. It aint blistering on acceleration but it handles really well. Strangely not too dis-simlar to a mk2. , really responsive steering and minimal body roll. I bet one of these with the 1.8 turbo is a ruddy lovely car.

I just had a look at marenas andy, that's a cool looking car what do they go for?

When I was trade plating last year I drove a couple of top-end Audi's, and tbh they are very nice to drive.

For handling and drive quality they beat the equivalent BMW's hands down has to be said.

Do you in the UK have to carry full coverage insurance,or can you just have personal liability.

@Rick, the legal requirement is for 3rd party cover. Anything on top of that is down to the driver's choice.

That's quite an investment for a resale project even at the 2k end don't ya think? You know how the cost of restorations can creep and creep and creep Would be a lovely project to do though eh.

I've done a few now its a guaranteed earner.

Key thing is older than 1st Jan 1980 , NCT exempt, 48 euro road tax, cheap insurance and I make sure I don't bother with welding jobs. The matra is galvanized.
