How far back do they go on selling you a vehicle on a regular car lot,example will they sell you one from the 1980's,and can you get them cheap,any vehicle here that runs,and the body is good before 1980 is ridiculously priced

I would say your average banger thats got some MOT on it and is around an average of about 15 years old or so will set you back about £800 ish.

To give you an idea it used to be possible to manage it for £500 not long ago.

In Ireland its around €1000 so about the same as the UK, although the road tax is bloody extortionate for anything bigger than about 1.4 litres.
I have a 2.2l diesel mini van MPV thingamajiggabie and its setting me back €250 every 3 months to tax it.

This is a vintage 1978 dodge restored,but even one that is out in a old field would cost way more than it should.
This would be my classic of choice in vans,with the 318 engine

Well, classics in the UK can be expensive, vw campervans can be insanely priced even if they're old for example.
The main thing people are after with classics is the cheaper road tax, MOT exemptions, cheaper insurance etc.

Most cars won't make it that long as they'll be in the scrapyard or rotboxes long before they make classic status.

Not sure if its 25 or 30 years in the UK.

I remember seeing a 2 year old xr2 with holes in the wing...bloody laughable tbh.

Dub campers are silly stupid money though for what they are. Even a late bay window with rust is out of my price range. A fully restored Splitty would just be like a pipe dream.

I've of course been looking at cars today and it's fair to say that things have got daft. I'd say prices have gone up drastically of late.

I would say that the most affordable classic is probably going to be something like a hillman hunter, perhaps a triumph spitfire and they'll be messy.
There's a fair few cortinas and escorts around but they'd have to have been looked after to last this long so they'll be a couple grand or so.

It's a split screen VW camper/bus Rick. The early ones had a 'split' windscreen/shield. They're just infinitely nicer in every respect to the later ones called bays, with a one piece windscreen/shield.

Because the Fords were predominately used as work trucks and you see a lot of body damage.

Best chance to get a cheap van would be from 1982 to 1986 you may find a really good deal there under 500 maybe

People collect VW like their gold,the vans are rare,so I see more VW bug collectors around
