Dawn, that was a horrible thing to have to go through. No, you should definitely not have a duty to love people who do things like this. They deserve contempt - and distance.

Family members can be dreadful people, but in the main, I'm very lucky compared to many. My immediate family and my sister's will normally get together to help each other & my mum out with big jobs. We get together often for meals and play games (like a bunch of kids) and it's good fun.

You're right, O_Rourke, I wouldn't want to keep the youngsters away from my dad, as he is good with them.

I think Dawn is brave too.
I would worry about putting something like that on a forum (if it happened to me), it could end up in the papers, even though its none of their business, they could make it their business, which is wrong.

I think the difference from forums like this and social networking sites such as Facebook is the fact that we can have a semblence of anonymity. I wouldn't ever have dared post this thread on Facebook for example. I'm actually a liar and love all my friends and family on that site....when and if I'm ever on it, which is very rarely. However, sites like this allow us to feel that we can express our emotions and be ourselves even though, ironically, we are strangers. That's why I prefer forums as opposed to sites like Facebook And why I think Facebook is full of fakes and liars and sucker ups, even though they are real people.

No need to respond at all. I've always found you considerate when necessary, but brilliantly witty and funny when a post is full of bullshit. It's so refreshing to see that. So don't ever lose your touch ;) :)

That's why I never put up personal shit on there.

I am shocked at what some write, but, not surprised at the mentality of some morons.
