Unusually for me, this is not rude.

Increasingly, I'm finding myself 'bothered' by stuff happening here at night. I'm usually out like a light with no problems but I seem to go through phases. I've no trouble sleeping lately, but I find myself keep being woken up.

Last night, I awoke sharply and found myself looking at my wall. Immediately in front of the wall was the outline of what I can only describe as a tiny pair of hands, like a dolls hands in stature. They were holding this square object with a screen. After a few seconds of staring at this, it started to slowly disappear into the chest of drawers next to my bed. It's difficult to explain, but I was definitely 'awake'. What's stranger is that I evidently just rolled over and went back to sleep. I remembered it quite vividly this morning though.

Previous to this, the night before, I heard someone call my name quite clearly. Again, I ignored it and went back to sleep. It wasn't until I got up to find the door to my hallway open and the hallway light on, that I remembered it again. I make a habit of closing all doors and switching off lights before I go to bed, and I think I remember doing so that night. It's a bit like a ritual for me. Do you think I might be sleep-walking?

Anyway...just thought I'd share the weirdness about a bit. Ta.

Have you ever sleep-walked in the past that you know of, Abs? This might belong in the paranormal section, if not! :O

My mum told me I only ever did it once, when I was about ten. She said I passed her in the hallway and went downstairs and sat in the dark one night. She said she tried to ask me what I was doing but that I completely blanked her.

Needless to say, she didn't come down to check on me and went off to bed herself.

Other than that...nope.

It'd be good if you could set up a camera to see if you can check it out.

Maybe you're just bonkers? :conf:

(Now that I don't have to actually think and try for a +karma, I might as well just get to the point). :D

Seriously, though: two things spring to mind. Yes, the possibility of you sleepwalking. You don't have to have a history of that, people can and do start/stop it at any age or stage; and it can be brief or long-lived. It's usually triggered by stress, so look to see if you are suffering from that.

And the other thing I thought of (although it doesn't account for the open door and light on) is a "waking dream". This is where you actually do wake up, but the impression of a dream is still playing in your sight, like a film. It usually disappears (or "wipes away" as I call it) when you blink (and literally "wipe" it away).

Thanks tata.

The tiny hands thing freaked me out a bit more than the light on and door open, tbh.

And I don't believe the fact that I am just bonkers was ever in question.

And I don't believe the fact that I am just bonkers was ever in question.

If it was a waking dream, it can seem very, very real. The last one I had: I was dreaming that I was at a wedding and we were all seeing of the new couple; and when we got to their lift i thought, "I'd better get out of here or I'll start to look odd!". And that thought made me wake up....

.... and there was this man standing on my landing - blond, white tee-shirt and blue jeans; smiling like he found something amusing. And I got a shock and started to stare at him, which made me all the surer that I WAS LOOKING AT THIS BLOKE STANDING OUT ON MY LANDING smack bang between me and my little girl in her room across the way. So I yelled for him to get out and leapt out of bed to deal with things (and of course blinked then) and he was "gone" in an instant. :O

He was so real I even went around the house searching for him, in case he was hiding somewhere.

It was only later I began to realise that he'd been one of the "dream crowd" seeing off the newly weds in my dream.

:)

Tiny doll hands would freak me out to, your probably right to feel terrorized by a demon doll while you sleep.

Did you get any 'sense' of anything from the hand thingy? Like a feeling that it was malevolent or anything like that?

It may not shock you to hear that I've been wakened also by someone shouting my name, when there was nobody there. :D

Perhaps it's not that uncommon when at that hypnagogic state? I was also woken from a drowse once by a man's voice, shouting, "Bastard", right in my ear. I nearly jumped out of my skin.

On the one hand, it's said you can access other planes of existence when at that stage between sleep & wakefulness, and there's a school of thought that says you can be prone to vivid hallucinations in that state. Who knows which is most accurate?

I'd try not to dwell on it when you settle down to sleep tonight, or that in itself might cause you to have a troubled night.

Let us know if you have any other experiences like that, abs, and I hope you get a sound night's rest.

Ta, Gilly.

Dunno what's going on of late as I've not had anything like this for ages.

Whilst watching the hands disappear into the drawers, I got the 'sense' that I was seeing something I wasn't supposed to. It's almost as if they were thinking "shit...we've been rumbled" and hence slowly withdrew out of sight.

I've only ever had a really bad visual/auditory experience once before in a different flat. That was some scary shit and I know I was awake as I eventually managed to get myself sat up in bed. Interesting stuff, whatever it is.
