I'm luvvin the avatar, sketts. :D Dubs never looked lovelier..... :killinme:

I suspect I'll have to crack out the dvd of It's A Wonderful Life at some point or other - seeing as the daughter loves it. :conf: (She enjoys a good cry). And the John Mills version of Great Expectations, which I think is wonderfully well done; and the Alastair Sims version of A Christmas Carol, still the best of all versions.

:)

No TV for me at the best of times, so I won't be watching anything this Yuletide. Walks in the Staffordshire hills, enjoying the Georgian beauty of Bath, and fresh sea-air on the south coast, thats my xmas week sorted out

@Cantata, anything with Alistair Sim is worth watching, the man was a genius :D

I love Alastair Sim too - and find any stuff with both him & Margaret Rutherford in, I'd sit down & giggle all through it. :D

Job and knock? :conf: Is that rhyming cockney or summat? :O

Ah, Margaret Rutherford. :D I have all her "Miss Marple" movies and wonderful they are too. I also particularly love her as the batty psychic in Blithe Spirit.... which I might also watch over Christmas (I have a lot of classics on dvd).

She had a really interesting life, you know (when she was very young, her father went nuts and battered her mother to death with a chamber pot - I kid you not. She suffered from depression a LOT; but her husband, the actor who played Mr Stringer in her Miss Marple films, absolutely adored her and genuinely couldn't understand why no one but him could see her actual physical beauty. He thought she was the most beautiful woman on earth. Awwwww. He died within a year of her, having nursed her through the last years of her life. Awwwww).

:)
