I've decided to start a thread about some real issues that threaten us all (or some countries we don't pay attention to perhaps) right now.
Instead of silly stuff with voodoo computer model predictions and constant adjustments and mistakes and policy decisions..

So here's number 1.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20968076

As much as half of the world's food, amounting to two billion tonnes worth, is wasted, a UK-based report has claimed.

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers said the waste was being caused by poor storage, strict sell-by dates, bulk offers and consumer fussiness.

The study also found that up to 30% of vegetables in the UK were not harvested because of their physical appearance.

The institution's Dr Tim Fox said the level of waste was "staggering".

2 BILLION tonnes of food per year. Meanwhile people starve to death in the 3rd world and we pay through the arse for our food which if not wasted so much would be twice as common and therefore surely half the price!

Problem number 2.
Blue gold.

Today, one person in five across the world has no access to safe drinking water, and one in two lacks safe sanitation.

Today, and every day, more than 30,000 children die before reaching their fifth birthdays, killed either by hunger or by easily-preventable diseases.

And adequate safe water is key to good health and a proper diet. In China, for example, it takes 1,000 tonnes of water to produce one tonne of wheat.

Problem number 3.

Energy.

This is the true lifeblood of our modern society, it is tied in with water and with food above. Without water its difficult to generate electricity and without electricity you can't pump the water and then you can't irrigate crops, produce fertilizers and manage modern large scale food farming methods.
It powers our communications and our transport.
We have seen the news recently about how we are struggling to meet demand, there is little reserve for extra use when there is extreme cold or hot weather and load increases to breaking point.
We have seen countries the size of Canada have massive brown outs.
We have seen bills go through the roof and taxation increase despite this being an essential service, this is ofc counter-productive to the economy which comes up next...

Problem number 4.

The Economy.

Its not really an economy as such because a real economy would manage resources efficiently and effectively.
Our economy doesn't do that, instead it pisses away resources, creates artificial scarcity, promotes stupid behaviour and is generally a cancer on the planet.
Profit is the motive behind everything we do. We pretend to be 'doing whats right' when in fact its whatever makes the most profit for a small group of people and to hell with the consequences to the environment or the bigger picture.
This is self evident no matter where you look today, the examples are everywhere you can care to look.

Because profit is the motive it leads to corruption because corruption serves profit.

Problem number 5.

Economic collapse.

Again this ties in with the above issue.
Because of the profit motive and impossible mathematical sustainability of fractional reserve banking and because of the impossible sums of money given to banks to balance their crazy number sheets...we now stand the very real risk of total and utter economic collapse.
Perhaps war, famine, disease, breakdown of energy and communications and generally a return to the dark ages or perhaps even nuclear armageddon.

These are very real possible scenarios and they are not 'at the end of the century' with a few foot of water and 2 degrees centrigrade.

All 5 are inter-related and woven together and at the core of the issue is a delusional mindset that mankind has remained stuck with for thousands of years.

MONEY.

It has served its purpose and done it well for a long time, but it now no longer serves any purpose.

There are of course other issues that plague mankind but afaik nothing beats these 'top issues' if anyone knows of any by all means add to the list ;)

great thread andy. i dont disagree with any of that. i think another problem is that forever, there has been a ruling class. scum of society, the most corrupt, the best backstabbers and liars, the slickest, the slimiest. they all slither to the top of the pyramid to dictate through weapons and thought.
i dont know how we can solve those other problems unless we solve that

The only way to solve it imho is to remove the motive for it, which has to mean removing the profit motive.
So again, everything boils back down to the money. There's not many things exempt from this tbh.

If money wasn't an issue then we would be using geothermal energy...poof! There goes all the environmental problems at a single stroke, all the energy shortage problems etc etc etc.

Its sooo easy a child can see it, oddly enough adults cannot, they choose to get bogged down in the symptoms.

Andy i don't know what to say about food and water waste but i doubt all the plastic packaging is helping earth...

Sometime i assume there is not enough resources in the 3rd world desert regions to sustain those populations.

I see the television commercials of kids starving in Africa and India and it just does not make any sense to me.

do you think 'rulers' see money as a resource to be managed? i mean if you have millions, money is meaningless. if you have little it every penny is valuable. such a divide between the elite and the paupers. 1 has so much they want for nothing. 1 has nothing they want for any thing.
money=power
if the rulers were stripped of power, if they needed to beg and plead to banks to be able to make it through day by day, they would have a different view. if they asked instead of told.
im kinda ranting here and going off on a tangent. i get what you mean

Yep batou is quite right.
The daft thing is that its never enough, no matter how much you make, you have to make more and to hell with the consequences.

online.wsj.com/article/SB100014240529702...171531838421366.html

As can be seen in this article, it is quite obvious that within the current economic paradigm it is actually counter-productive to do anything about CO2 for the next 50 years. And that is actually true...it'll literally take us 50 years just to pay the banks back, let socialism die off and be on the downcurve of the population decline due to low fertility rates seen today.

Then and only then, is it economically feasible given the current economic setup to actually be able to do anything about it.

War is profitable, pollution is profitable, consumerism is profitable, govt is profitable.

Life and practicality are not profitable therefore they are secondary considerations.

To fix all of this, we have to address what is at the core of all the problems which is IMHO simply the profit motive, humanity would literally have to evolve to sort that one out. It would mean a completely different level of consciousness.

This is why i'm starting to give up on conspiracy theory's because everything all comes back to the profit motive.

Some people get to have amazing life and fly around the world living a life of vacation and extreme indulgence.

While others get stuck in their hometown forever with no money to travel and see the world while saving pennies.

Then we wonder why people in the world are bitter as shit and life on earth is terrible for so many others.

Like i tried to tell Dubs in his (putting the world to right thread) its up to the next generation with info via technology.

Look at the top guy on that Forebs list in Mexico who has 70 billion as an example for those aware of Mexico's problems.

If people wan't to have a nice house and car that is one thing but when people hoard billions that's another.

I understand that some people have more talent than others in sports and music and they make millions.

But when people hoard 70 billion dollars to their family they are causing others who have nothing to suffer.

If humans on earth keep striving to be super rich and constantly are idolizing the wealthy the world is stuck.

But like i said to Dubs the next generation will grow up on the internet and have the info needed to end tptb.

This topic is one of many such like I have offered up in walking away from the current system. Its a passtime many are now seriously looking into, we have been doing for the last 20 years because authority is becoming defunct, like the Union red, white and blue.

The way is to start skilling up together, make another system, one that that we actually control, where you put your life energy, you gains and surpluses, so they cannot be stolen so easily.

If we think that stocking up now and getting what we need food wise by growing your own will see us through another ten years, then we need to stop fooling ourselves. because the debt life force using imaginary currency is the begining of the end game if the ones running the show now remain the plaintif.

To remove the stain now bought over, one must first be able to remove yourself, only then will anyone have a chance at changing anything.

In house skills no matter what they may be is part sollution, bringing those skills together is another rung on the ladder, I know it works because its tried and tested.

If the masses let the Varroa take us to war further we have just sealed the fate of millions of childerick to come.

The right and title of the mother and father must also be paramount, not to let their childerick go to war, to steal from another child labourer, we can all make this most obvious of choices, not doing so is most definately future heady murder, neglect and continual disrepair of our whole.

just saying once again, sharing poissible sollutions.

simply forget the agressive solution, doing so is an easy route, the hardest way is the right way, if one starts today, and in a hundred years we might start seeing fruit appear, work very hard and it might take ten years.

I agree with that tbh.
The upcoming generations will have to be very specific where they look for info and how they analyze it, but its true to look at it and state that each new generation has ACCESS to new info that they never had before.
Whether they make good use of that info or not is another thing :)

Its worth noting btw that the forbes list goes on to list over 1100 billionaires. Thats well in excess of a trillion already, and people wonder where all the money is :D

Problem number 8:

www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats

Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. More than 80 percent of the world’s population lives in countries where income differentials are widening. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death.”

Around 27-28 percent of all children in developing countries are estimated to be underweight or stunted. The two regions that account for the bulk of the deficit are South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

If current trends continue, the Millennium Development Goals target of halving the proportion of underweight children will be missed by 30 million children, largely because of slow progress in Southern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.

Problem number 9:
- There are 3.6 million children living in poverty in the UK today. That’s 27 per cent of children, or more than one in four.
- There are even more serious concentrations of child poverty at a local level: in 100 local wards, for example, between 50 and 70 per cent of children are growing up in poverty.
- Work does not provide a guaranteed route out of poverty in the UK. Almost two-thirds (62 per cent) of children growing up in poverty live in a household where at least one member works.

Many more facts and figures here:

Numbers like this are on the whole pretty meaningless, those figures are impossible to even out. Watch the film here an see the empire growing then dieing aeay again, only to begin again into those colours today, this time the cycle of the whole is complete, there is only one world, that needs to know they will most likely loose everything that they think they own, in reality they never owned anything anyway.

The Roman circus took around 400 years to realise and another 125 years to completely fail, this current cycle and empire will be over in less than a quarter of that time.

At the outset of most wars, those who joined in willingly earlier on were the ones most likely to survive, there is a clue to my model story if we started creating something different now.

And the world stands still in waiting as people are starting to organize to deal with the the worlds greatest issue.

Alot of it has to do with the average person in the western world being complacent for the most part.

Now i could try to become more self dependent and pull away from the western system of life for personal change.

But i'm not going to be selfish in a naive way to think my self dependence will end the war and feed the poor.

Then we start getting back into how will people come together to change the system for the better of the Earth.
