It's just the kind of pointless distraction and media circus that people like Morgan fasten on to. It's only bad for people who watch cycling because someone ruined the Tour de France for virtually a decade by cheating massively. If you don't watch the Tour de France then I find it rather hard to get on your high horse about.

I don't think taking drugs is cheating. I mean is it cheating to eat lots of fruit?

Its not very balanced when others arent doing the same!

Not everyone has access to the good drugs and know how to mask it all on top of that, to avoid detection... especially beginners/rookies... he must have had some people behind him that know what theyre doing, and that takes money... as he won more and more, more money coming in, it becomes more of an unfair advantage imo. He could afford the best, and it then becomes their common interest to pull away from the pack and also avoid detection.

if there were no drug checks in sport and it became a dope fest freak free for all then yeah, id say its fair. :chuckle:

at the least it would be interesting to see what the athletes would 'evolve' to, how they would look physically. :chuckle:

Id probably watch a dope olympics.

and im aware its already widespread (doping) ... but im talking about a real free for all, no testing. :hahano:

I watch piers earlier in the evening he went on a tirade and I found it unusual for a news commentator to show what was in my opinion excessive verbal abuse, in his tone, and words.

Just seemed highly unusual to me considering other things that take place in the world of a more serious nature, that just get expressed in a matter of fact tone

Drugs used in sports legally is most likely a futuristic thing, and the performance and entertainment for fans will possibly outweigh other considerations about individuals participating in events.

I don't think it's that big of a deal either with the substances that were used.

Think about it a good example is going from normal boxing to MMA thirty years ago MMA would have been considered cruel and unusual fighting to be viewed on mass media.

I'm not an expert on cycling, but I'm pretty sure that fruit isn't a banned substance.

Everyone's being terribly po faced about the whole Lance Armstrong thing. It does seem a little bit over the top. What he did wasn't very sporting, but get over it people ffs.

Fruit is not banned. Performance enhancing drugs are banned so if you take them you are breaking the rules and therefore a cheat. And a wanker to boot. :)

I think it's more to do with the scale of the deception and the amount of people involved than the fact that he cheated.

His entire team were involved. That's the doctors, mechanics, management, dieticians etc, and on top of that there was the pressure - from Armstrong personally - placed upon his team mates to dope as well. If the whole team doped it would make his victories seem more plausible as they would have been performing well as well.
Any rider who wouldn't play along was out the door and pretty much out of the sport.

It's a very long and complex tale with perhaps the worst part being that many, many whistle-blowers, some going back 10 years or more, have lost their careers because they dared to speak out against him. Thankfully there have been 1 or 2 journalists (and a special mention here to the wonderful Betsy Andreu) who have never stopped digging and have finally been rewarded for their tenacity.

For what it's worth I would like to see all performance enhancing drugs allowed in sport. I think it would be quite a laugh. Maybe we could have 2 categories of sport, 1 straight and 1 banjo'd. :D

I don't know about all the in's and out's of his situation, but it does seem like their casting him as some incredible villain, which to me seems odd considering all the other things going on in the world.

Who the fuck cares what that loathsome, self-agrandizing, irrelevant cunt has to say??

If you could personify a filthy drunks balls slapping up against a dirty, diseased hookers ass, THAT would be his face.

Hopefully you both know I am aware fruit isn't banned but maybe you can also see the point I was making. Fruit fuels the body and somehow Armstrong took a drug that fueled his body. I am pretty sure drugs don't give you cycling skills. This isn't really The Matrix no matter what Icke says.

True, no drug can do that.

What some drugs can do however is enhance performance of a particular skill.

Okay, let's compare the two:

- Taking banned hormone EPO by Armstrong's own admission.
- Taking other knowingly banned substances by Armstrong's own admission.
- Illegally blood doping by Armstrong's own admission.
- Bullying other team-mates into going along with his doping regimen, as extensively documented in 1,000 page report.
- Constantly denying that you've ever broken the rules in any way.
- Suing the crap out of so many people who suggest that you're not whiter than white that during the Oprah interview he literally couldn't remember how many people he'd sued.
- Ruining numerous people's career and lives by a variety of vicious tactics, including having them blackballed from the sport and their careers.
- Lying about all of this while under oath and presenting completely false evidence to a court.

Or:

- Eating a banana.

Not really the same, is it?

I also find it funny that a skinny bike rider taking drugs is made into a bid deal in this world...

The guy rides bikes who cares, it's not like it's the NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL.
