Pope Francis has said he wants a "poor church for the poor."

So how will making the catholic church poor be achieved?

Is Pope Francis hinting that all the wealth the catholic church owns will become worthless in some way or does the pope intend to give the wealth away.

I can't see the church coming to the rescue of the EU and bankers as that would be helping the money changers which would be against christian values.

Wasn't it the money changers who so enraged Jesus so much that he became violent and knocked over their tables.

Is the message more cryptic and the popes means spiritually poor,in that case he means give everything to the bankers.

I think he just means a small department that gives some small extra amounts to stuff like st.vincent de paul etc.

It means he's in touch with the times. He's going to bankrupt the church with madcap financial schemes and demand a bailout from the Catholic community because the Vatican is too big to fail. So the church will be briefly poor quickly followed by everybody else.
