Yep, calculate the typical hourly rate x hours per week, and you're going to arrive at a much lower average figure than they claim. They must be going on median, which is highly (and purposefully) misleading.

Indeed, tiz the median that's used which as you say presents a very very distorted figure.

I've noticed actually that you don't even get off working families tax credits if you have a wife and 4 kids until you top 40k.

Take home pay after tax doesn't move much until you're at some epic levels tbh, generally speaking a hell of a lot of people are not going to see much of a major difference if they're paying for family and housing which again most people are unless they inherit something.

If a house is 300k then the salary has to be 100k....not only that but the deposit has to be AT LEAST 30,000 quid.

75k is 3x the real average salary and 10% of that is 7500 quid. Still ridiculously hard for a family to achieve unless relatives chip in and the wife works too.
BUT!!! Its OK to get the same family paying half their salary on a rent to a greedy cunt (no smokers, no DSS, no pets, no children ™). Not only that but its also OK to sell off council housing and have houses empty all over the place pwned by banks.

If you take London and the south east out of the equation, the average is little better than £20,000. For large parts of the country, the average is less than £20,000. The average wage in my hometown is under £18,000. These are official figures, you can see them broken down here:

Its actually for a married man-

3142 per month after tax and NI, perhaps a pension off that too.

That actually only just covers the 1/3 salary requirement for a 1000 a month rent.

And just how many houses all over the place are 1000 a month? Yep shitloads, so basically we're saying here only the top 10% of earners can manage to afford to rent a bloody house lol.

Its also worth noting btw that a 53k 10% wage earner (lol) would only cover a 156,000 pound mortgage going by 3x income.
