Sorry.
Nationalism is mind control, fantasy stories told to naive people to keep them from realising their real enemies.

I got it andyh, I would like to castigate your reading comprehension skills but I don't have much of a case given my previous post lol.

Speaking of eminent domain though.

https://www.newstalk.ie/Court-orders-Kildare-farmer-to-leave-family-home

"A farmer in Co. Kildare is to be forced from the home where generations of his family have lived, after losing a High Court action aimed at stopping the Industrial Development Authority from enforcing a compulsory purchase order on the land.

The 18th century house and surrounding 72 acres is beside the Carton House Estate and Intel at Blakestown in Maynooth.

Last year, the IDA imposed a CPO on the property after its owner Thomas Reid declined an offer to sell up the land for development.

The 51-year-old sought a court review of the order claiming his Constitutional rights were breached and that the inquiry process that led to the IDA decision to compulsorily purchase the lands was flawed.

He has lost his case on all grounds. The court has found Mr. Reid was given the fullest opportunity to put forward his concerns at a hearing in July 2012."

The Constitutional Warriors are up in arms over this in the last few days over here.

Seems most of them haven't read their holy book fully though.

"ARTICLE 43
1 1° The State acknowledges that man, in virtue of his rational being, has the natural right, antecedent to positive law, to the private ownership of external goods.
2° The State accordingly guarantees to pass no law attempting to abolish the right of private ownership or the general right to transfer, bequeath, and inherit property.

.......

ARTICLE 43 (continued)
2 1° The State recognises, however, that the exercise of the rights mentioned in the foregoing provisions of this Article ought, in civil society, to be regulated by the principles of social justice.
The State, accordingly, may as occasion requires delimit by law the exercise of the said rights with a view to reconciling their exercise with the exigencies of the common good."

Yep its done the world over and because the state has ultimate ownership (and eternal because its a body corporate) then citizens do not.
Ergo because no state allows for any actual ownership of anything by its 'citizens' (read prisoners) then it is nothing more than stockholm syndrome to have affection for your jailer/s.

Yeah, although I wouldn't say the state owns the land (if for no other reason that it doesn't exist), rather the individuals operating under the quise of the state are capable of and prepared to steal it. It is precisely Stockholm Syndrome.

"Allodial title constitutes ownership of real property (land, buildings and fixtures) that is independent of any superior landlord. Historically, allodial title was sometimes used to distinguish ownership of land without feudal duties from ownership by feudal tenure which restricted alienation and burdened land with the tenurial rights of a landholder's overlord or sovereign. Allodial title is related to the concept of land held "in allodium", or land ownership by occupancy and defense of the land. Historically, much of land was uninhabited and could therefore be held "in allodium".[1] In the modern world, true allodial title is only possible for countries.[1] Although the word "allodial" has been used in the context of private ownership in a few states of the United States, this ownership is still restricted by governmental authority; the word 'allodial' in these cases describes land with fewer but still significant governmental restrictions.[1]"

Ownership is control, its not about pieces of paper nor is it eternal because eventually you die.
If humanity evolved (truly) then it would no longer be concerned about petty pieces of officialdom connected with ownership and be more concerned with stewardship. Just as it would also no longer make use of corporate entities which are themselves nothing more than pieces of paper, its a cultural thing really, just global culture is all.
Some people (a lot actually) like to hold on to it for no logical reason at all other than reinforcement of a supposition that because it has worked before it will continue to work forever and yet time and again that supposition is proven wrong and cultural values have had to change and give way to progress.
Slavery is a prime example of such.

Yes ownership is sole control over the use of something at a specific time.
I think stewardship pre-supposes ownership, I'm not going to clean your dirty shoes (you filthy animal) !

Eh, if you accept taxes or eminent domain and the like then you don't actually own anything.
Allodial Title is a title of Real Ownership.

nah sorry rep, you're wrong.
ownership only applies within the confines of societal values and rules. outside of that it is meaningless. to accept it as a concept is to accept the limited reality of life in a man made box.

I remember what C S Lewis discussed about the linguistic ambiguity in words like "my" or "mine".

Such words are often thought to mean "this is my property" . However, if one looks a little further, we see that this is not true for a lot of the time.

For example "my country" does not usually mean "the country which is my property" but rather "the country from whence I originate".

Furthermore, with words like "my father", "my mother" and indeed any family member, partners or friends, words like "my" do not, or at least should not indicate that the speaker believes he or she owns them. In fact IME, those spouses, friends and family members who are abusive DO mean that "my wife" or "my daughter" means "belongs to me" and this, I believe lies at the heart of their abuse.

So it is with Nationalism. While others who are not so nationalistic love their area with a sense of belonging, the nationalist loves it with a sense of ownership. In this way, the love is just reflected vanity and pride. In the same way a person can love their big car or big house mot for itself but because of what it says to about themselves.

C S Lewis said that this dichotomy between "my" as in "What belongs to me" and "my" as in "To what I belong" was at the root of spiritual pride. "My God" can clearly mean two very different things.

I'm not sure I understand you.
For example if I said I own myself, you could argue that society decides this and slavery can be ok, it has happened historically most would agree. I would say that this is wrong (both morally and logically) and that societal values are meaningless in terms of truth and virtue.
Society can legislate for Genocide and hold that as a societal value, it is still wrong.
Culture is mind control and should be considered irrelevant.

But I'm not sure I understand your post , so perhaps I have gotten the wrong end of the stick.

I think this cuts close to the root of the problem, the belief that you can own others.
The flip side of freedom is responsibility, you are responsible for your actions, I think this terrifies a lot of people and I also think it's Socially Programmed and not Organic.
Learned Helplessness

The State will try you for murder should you be suspected and the murder was not state sanctioned so they do accept responsibility lies with the individual. * Some exceptions noted*

Contradictions of course do not occur in nature, only in the minds of the insane and the words of liars.

*Edit, just so there is no misunderstanding I'm not calling any poster in this thread a liar*

Its only temporary control of property that can be taken by bullies at any time, slavery never really went as you say, its been transformed into something more acceptable for the elite to keep their lifestyle without the mobs having their heads.
