But I'm fucked if I know what to do with it.

In lieu of returning my online presence to the likes of FB, I have invested (read bought on the never-never) one of these evil, 'smart' gadgets...but I must admit I'm at a bit of a loss.

I can now flirt on 'apps' (<GET ME!) and send disgusting photos to people...but other than that.

I did manage to spend five pounds worth of credit in the space of two hours the other day and I really don't know how I did it.

From what I can gather, if you are not in the vicinity of the god 'wifi' you can be charged to connect to the internet, though I wasn't aware that I was still connected in all honesty. It's all very confusing.

Can anyone clarify?

I must also confirm that the gizmo I have is in no way affiliated with 'Apple' TM. I don't know why that's important...I just wanted you all to know.

Go in to your settings and turn off all mobile network options (use packet data, roaming etc. as these automatically connect you to t'internet to up date your apps. That'll be where your fiver went.

Ahh...that would make sense. I'm still not clear about when I'm being charged and when I'm not though, as I can still use the internet and 'apps' even when I have no credit, as long as I'm in a wifi area.

S'ok...don't blame you. To be honest, I only got it because I was tired of the lesbians down my local invert bar laughing every time I pulled out my old, pre-war number and tried to look swish.

And yes, it is a mini computer. A very expensive to use mini computer.

Aye, wifi is freemans. Well the person/shop offering wifi obviously stumps up for it so you don't have to.

How is it then that this devils toy is able to magically pick up wifi from nowhere when I do have credit? I smell a rat...

Eh? Are you confusing wifi with normal data connection?

If there is wifi it should pick it up regardless of your balance.

Just out of curiosity, what provider are you with, Abs?

I only ask because I've got 4 phones through T-Mobile (mine's the only one that isn't smart). I don't get it, because it's never interested me enough to ask questions. But when I was upgrading my daughter's the other week, they were parping on about E & 4G, assuming I had some remote inkling what those terms meant.

And I stupidly asked my daughter, when she was accessing the internet while I was driving, how come it worked when not near a router. She just mocked me, asking what I thought all that E / 4G stuff was about.

if tiz android therell be summat that says, allow apps to connect in the background, or words to that effect. make sure that box has no tick. other than that and what oi said just be wary of videos when you are away from wifi.
download an app called 3g watchdog, that will count up all the data you use and give warnings when your reaching your usage limit. other such apps are available...

You are not alone, Gilly-bean.

From what I can gather, T-Mobile have just become part of EE group, which has something to do with coverage. It's with T-mobile...but I've already said too much.

I can no longer mock the other phone zombies either, as I am now one of them. Soon as I hit a wifi spot I'm bang on it and everyone else can get fucked.

Hey...it's the future.
