If you're just looking to get your phone to speed up, give SD Maid a go, and maybe even Smart RAM Booster.

But if you're looking to install a new rom (operating system) then firstly do a back up of all your stuff. Then download and install Rom Manager and then flash ClockworkMod Recovery within the app itself. This will then give you the option to boot into recovery mode and install new roms from the sd card.

The rom I'm currently running is the first link in the second post from this thread. There's also an update for it which you'd have to install after the rom, but it's the same process. You'll see the update just a few lines under the link to the rom. It's basically Jelly Bean 4.2, although 4.3 for the ace is out there too, but that particular rom runs like a dream on my ace.

If you fancy trying out a new rom, then I'll help you through the rest of the steps and post some more links, but if you get ROM manager installed and flashed with Clockwork Recovery, then you're halfway there already. The rest of it is just booting into recovery, deleting a few things and then installing the rom and the update.

But if I were you, I'd give SD Maid a go first :thumbup:

Essentially there are 2 ways to connect to the internet.
One is using the wifi, which you can only use where there is a free wifi signal to latch onto.
The other is through your fone signal...... this one costs your credit. Unless you tell your fone never to connect to the internet this way, every time you click the internet icon chances are it will charge you. I found out the hard way too! Except mine would tell me every day that I've just spent a pound on it and the rest of the day would be free. Took me ages to figure it out. :roll:

Another good feature of the smartphone is if somebody else has unlimited internet (ie. they pay a contract of whatever) you can tether your phone to theirs providing it is in range by setting it as a portable wifi hotspot and then you can use the internet too for freemans.

Basically, if you're phone is rooted, it just means that you have admin rights and you can pretty much install or do anything to your phone :thumbup:

It's not unlocking it in the sense that your phone will be open to any network so that any sim card will work. But yeah, it's like being root user on a Mac or Linux.

It's well worth doing, as the majority of the decent apps need to the handset to be rooted

OK...shit just got weird.

There I am, minding my own business, watching some porn a film on the sofa with my wonderful gizmo sat on the cushion next to me.

All of a sudden, fucker lights up without me touching it. It then proceeds to flick back and forth through various screens before selecting someone from my phone book and starting a text to them. It simply typed 'w'.

Has my phone been hacked or was this an attempt at communication from the dead?

I did notice there was blood running from the fawcetts earlier but that's quite a regular occurance in this shit-hole. Hang on, I'll check and see if the direction of water escaping down the plug holes has changed.
