I realise I can learn everything I need to know from the interwebz...but just thought I'd ask if you nobbers had any ideas.

Specifically, I need to do this on the cheap, so any alternative to extending supply and waste pipes would be appreciated.

Also, is it worth installing a mixer shower if your cold is off a tank and your hot off a combi?

did you get your toe stuck in the bath :giz

A combi boiler will instantly give you hot water out the shower, an immersion heater will take about an hour to heat enough water for a nice bath

Cheers, Gilly-bean.

The only thing is that I'm a bit rubbish at plumbing and don't have the tools for it anyway. I was thinking, maybe I could cheat and install some of those red and blue flexible pipe extenders from the supply, but that'd probably have an effect on pressure and may well render the mixer unusable.

I have to flip it because currently the tap end is quite close to a window, while there is unused wall at the other end. I need to re-tile anyway, so wanted to get all the re-jigging stuff done before I do that. A shower would also mean running tiles higher around the bath too.

Damn...I wish I'd actually learned something in my yoof instead of wasting all that time looking at boys and going to that stoopid school place.

My shower is at the window end. All I've done is connect one of those shower thingys to the taps, it also has a switchy thing so I can run a bath when I want one instead of a shower. It works fine....ok...not the luxury of a power shower....but it works perfectly well. :)

That's what I'm planning. It would just look neater if I switched it around as there isn't space to secure a fitting to the wall as it currently is.

I could do it, but you'd have to be quite short to get any benefit from the shower head as there is also a vent next to the window which is in the way.

Awwww....boooger...I see your predicament. Hmmmmm
Also Abs...have you signed up to your local Freegle and Freecycle network? I often see tiles being given away on there. You could always post a wanted addy. My local ones have been a treasure trove of finds, but I also give away a lot of stuff on there too!
I was telling jhado when he was up, that there is a girl who calls herself Sarah on there that I have noticed ever so nicely asking for odd bits and pieces on there. I've figured she has completely retro'd her house! Her latest ask was one of those 50's/60's kitchen dinette cupboard things! Have you seen the asking price of them when they have been up-cycled! :eek2:
I'm so tempted to ask if I can go see her house next time I see her post!

Anyways, I am busy up-cycling a corner cupboard (to sell) and a bookcase (for my boy) and 2nd coat is calling.
Back in a bit......

I dunno whether or not it would affect the water-pressure or have any other drawbacks. I'll ask th'usband for suggestions when he appears, as he re-did our plumbing recently.

Just curious but why do you want to move the bath around?
And whatever happened to the sink that came off the wall abs? It was you wasn't it?

He said that by the time you've removed the seal (assuming it's up against a wall lengthways?) removed the bath to re-route the waste-pipe, turned it round, and resealed, water pipes are the least faffy thing - but you probably would lose some water-pressure with it only being small apertures, regardless of what type of piping you used.

Cheers Gilly/Jane,

Just had a look in my local 'shops' and it turns out copper piping won't be that expensive after all. Plus, you can join without a blowtorch sometimes, so that's cool. I will be retiling anyway, so not too worried about the seal as it's all coming off eventually anyway.

Andy - the basin was replaced, albeit too far up the wall, but I did knock together a natty little cupboard for underneath to make it look a bit less like it was trying to float away. This gave me somewhere to store my bog rolls....and - don't tell anyone - also has a false bottom where I can store drugs n shit.

:secret:

See. Negative into a positive.

The bath needs to be moved as I'd like to put a shower mixer on and with its current orientation, there isn't room to attach necessary hardware to the wall above/have a shower curtain as there is a bastarding window in the way.

Abs, if you can do/afford a power shower get one, it will enhance more aspects of your life than most can appreciate...especially if it is within reach of the bog.
