So quiet has the international news media been about this matter, that this is, in fact, the first I have heard of it, so thank you very much for placing this information within my grasp!

One wonders how it can be that the first I hear of something like this, is on a forum such as this one. You would have thought that there would be a plethora of outlets, all over the globe, decrying this situation, and televising it. You would have thought that the hundreds of global organisations interested in human rights, and humanitarian concerns, would have been mobilising, getting editorials ready for publication in print media, television spots, and the like, but I have heard not one bit of it.

You would also have thought that the fantastically xenophobic and paranoid US media would have been keeping an eye on this situation, simply out of selfish fear of increased immigration, resulting from refugee exodus, which is inevitable, if the situation is nearly as bad as your OP would suggest.

Very VERY strange indeed!
Oh SMEG!!

Foreign Secretary William Hague to visit Ukraine

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague is due to visit Kiev amid growing tensions after the Russian parliament approved the deployment of troops to Ukraine.
Mr Hague said he was "deeply concerned" and would "reiterate support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine".
Mr Hague summoned Russian ambassador Alexander Yakovenko to the Foreign Office (FCO) to hear the UK's reaction.
Prime Minister David Cameron has said there can be "no excuse" for outside military intervention in Ukraine.
'Condemn aggression'
Mr Yakovenko was met by Political Director Simon Gass at the FCO on Saturday evening.
Mr Gass "expressed deep concern at the Russian Parliament's decision to authorise military action in Ukraine against the wishes of the Ukrainian government", said the FCO in a statement........

Venezuela: Another Western-Backed Destabilization
As Ukraine falls to the control of fascist forces funded by the Anglo-American powers and the world watches with bated breath for the Russian response, a similar sequence of events is currently taking place inside the South American country of Venezuela.

For the record, the people of Venezuela, much like the people of Ukraine, have very real complaints against the leadership in Caracas. A lagging economy and a level of personal freedom that is below par to say the least present clear reasons for Venezuelans to be disgruntled.

This latest Venezuelan “revolution,” however, does not appear to be the result of a popular uprising against an oppressive government but yet another Western-backed destabilization campaign aimed at wrecking the existing government and replacing it with another regime more favorable to the goals of the Anglo-Western interests and international banking cartels.

More here....

I am beginning to think all this hooha over in the Ukraine is a further smoke and mirrors....the US has a lot more to gain from Venezuela.

Having said that we signed a treaty way back with US, Russia, etc to 'protect' the Ukraine.
Also breaking news...we have pulled out of G8 summit talks along with Canada. The Ukraine situation is on fast forward I fear.

I don't think Ukraine is a smokescreen Jane. It has been on the shopping list for the NATO/EU bloc for many years. Personally I think it has frustrated them for at least a decade and Putin has managed to keep it close to Russia's bosom despite many attempts to wrest it away many times in the past.
That isn't to say that Venezuela hasn't had the same importance for the US and been a thorn in their side also. The US has tried to destabilize VZ numerous times and luckily Chavez got a grip by maintaining popular support of the masses. However, with the death of Chavez the US saw a crack in the armour and have moved to exploit it. I think it is just incidental that these two targets have presented themselves for renewed attention, maybe due to the frustrations in trying to bring down Syria. As they say, never let a good crisis go to waste.

Very true. Past attempts to overthrow the socialist govt in VZ has been fomented by the right wing, wealthy capitalist cliques in the country. Add a dash of CIA money and meddling they hoped to succeed. In the past this has failed but with Chavez gone they stirred it all up again on the premise that the socialist won through vote rigging. A case of the "Pot calling the kettle black", Mr Obama.

The UK being involved in so many dodgy so called "Peoples Revolutions" and regime change brings to mind this classic from Mitchell and Webb:

Maybe the British people. and members of the Armed Forces should be asking those questions of the UK.

:jane:

No it ain’t, first; the treaty is non binding, second; the treaty calls for non interference on Ukraine’s domestic affairs by anybody not just Russia, lastly; the treaty was effectively made null and void by a) US and EU meddling in what it was a coup d'etat to a democratically elected President and government b) by sponsoring and funding the Orange Revolution.

If the West wants to revive a defunct treaty, by all means they can go right ahead, but I doubt that Russia or indeed any of the BRIC countries will put up with it, or pay any attention to it.

To address the OP, particularly the part where it says; “and the International Media Is Asleep,” and I certainly hope so they stay asleep, there’s only so much propaganda I can take at the time.

Back on topic;

By the way this article is from the same journalist that was reporting from inside Libya, right before Nato bombs started to rain in, and was almost kidnapped by the so called 'revels'
.
Rise of the Anti-Government Flash Mobs: First Ukraine, Now Venezuela

The US-supported opposition in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is taking its cue from the anti-government protests taking place across the Atlantic Ocean in Ukraine. Failing to win any of Venezuela’s elections by earning a popular mandate from the majority of the population in the last few years, the leaders of the mainstream opposition are now resorting to colour revolution tactics and a Ukraine-style disruption strategy. The aim of these opposition leaders in Venezuela is to manipulate the galvanized anti-government protesters into creating a political crisis in Caracas. Mainstream opposition leaders are doing this by instigating the protesters into taking steps that are geared at toppling the Venezuelan government.

And I don’t wanna say I told you so...

This just in:
Russia And China 'In Agreement' Over Ukraine

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed Ukraine by telephone with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on Monday, and claimed they had "broadly coinciding points of view" on the situation there, according to a ministry statement."

Again, a highly organized attack is being carried out against the democratic and popular government of Venezuela. It has involved monetary manipulations, economic sabotage, international media campaign against the economy despite excellent economic indicators, defaming the state run oil company, and this last week riots on the streets that have left 3 dead and 66 injured.

The tactics are the same that the un-democratic opposition has tried for 15 years ever since the first election of President Hugo Chávez. Such tactics have been used in the so-called Rainbow Revolutions in Eastern Europe, Libya, in Syria, in Egypt and now in Ukraine
