The US is trying to spare a jihadist group in its attempts to unseat Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, Russia's foreign minister has told the BBC.
Sergei Lavrov said the US had broken its promise to separate the powerful Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) and other extremist groups from more moderate rebels.

"They [the US] pledged solemnly to take as a priority an obligation to separate the opposition from Nusra," he said.

"They still, in spite of many repeated promises and commitments... are not able or not willing to do this and we have more and more reasons to believe that from the very beginning the plan was to spare Nusra and to keep it just in case for Plan B or stage two when it would be time to change the regime."

They have their own agenda.

The US - as well as the European Union - imposed a series of sanctions against Russia following the annexation No, Crimea held a referendum on it and voted to ask Russia if they could become part of it. This was therefore an amalgamation, not an annexation. The two are very very different by Moscow of Ukraine's southern Crimea peninsula in 2014, and Russia's support for separatists in eastern Ukraine. Separatists who refuse to be ruled by the unashamedly Fascist bunch of ******* in Kiev

Tensions between Washington and Moscow rose further last month over Russia's bombing campaign in Syria, which some have described as a "war crime". Some? Some? Who? Maybe the Western war criminals that are behind the whole war of aggression in the first place? Maybe the media that unquestioningly parrots whatever they are told to say by these, 'people'? Like the um...BBC?

Russian planes are helping Syrian government forces to hit rebel groups, some of which are supported by the US and its Gulf Arab allies. Um, what was that about supporting proscribed groups in ANY way being an act of terrorism under Western 'law'?
