I'd still rather be there than here tbh. Lots of wide, open spaces to get lost in if one really wants too.

A defeated Labor Party looks set to fight hard against the new Prime Minister Tony Abbott on his signature promise to repeal the carbon tax.

Declaring the election a "referendum on the carbon tax", Mr Abbott said last week he thought it ''unimaginable'' that a defeated Labor Party would stifle his ''mandate'' to repeal the tax.

Mr Abbott promised he would do whatever was necessary to ''scrap the tax'' within his first year in government, even if it meant getting blocked in the Senate and sending Australians to another election through a double dissolution.

In his victory speech on Saturday night, Mr Abbott again repeated his promise to scrap the carbon tax.
How are they going to squirm out of this one?

Nope, they are all wingnuts. Corporations and monopolies/duopolies got stronger, laws got tighter. Troops kept on being shipped out.

Greens lost ground, not suprised there. More people can now see their agenda aligns with the rich globalists agendas, such as Agenda 21 and destroying domestic food production.

Yes. They removed her just before the election so the result wouldnt get absolutely ridiculously one sided.

I didn't know Abbott was a Rhodes Scholar. It goes without saying that I didn't trust him in the slightest.

This is the first time I ever voted, because they threatened me with a conviction last time when I tried to get out of the fine for not voting.

I filled in a blank which is enough to get my name crossed off the list, and got back to doing my thing, and making sure the TV stays off.

The Howard government of which Abbott (and former head of Goldman Sachs Australia, Malcolm Turnbull) were a part of set the foundation for many of the green agendas enacted by the Rudd and Gillard governments, along with the State governments in the past few years.

The richest always have all bases covered one way or another. Controlling the food and water is a big part of their current plans. Rural areas are decaying and many areas that once were prolific will be pretty much deserted in 20-30 years when the last of the old timers are gone imo.

Sadly many of them would feel like they had a win yesterday, because their guy got in. etc etc.. rinse and repeat, the agendas go on though.

At least its a better fit for the oil pipeline they want to run from Iraq to the Mediterranean, it should be a RW in charge when they go kill Assad, it looks more correct, some icing on the cake for the show will be the greens opposing it and yelling at Abbott like the useless puppets they are on these war issues. (not so useless on carbon tax issues though, funny that)

I guess Abbott didn't win by a "landslide" then? Whats the percentage towards pen on ballot voting in Australia?

Rudd has 54 seats, Abbott 88 (lol)

Labour had a -4.17 % swing against them, greens - 3.3 %

It is quite a swing against Labor.

"I see our Australian cousins have elected a new leader in Mr Abbott. He was a a former boxer, Rhodes scholar and trainee priest. During his student days he once "saved a child who was swept out to sea. Another time, he helped save children from a burning house next to a pub where he was drinking.
On each occasion he disappeared before he could be properly thanked. He may well be Superman! "

Maybe they'll make up a new tax name that does the same thing as carbon tax and get away with it that way.

Poll tax > Council tax, worked for the brits,

You are probably right, come to think of it someone I know said this to me couple of weeks ago, said an Australian started a thread about it on GLP, broke down Abbotts alternative policy, but I was too busy at the time to go look, no doubt it would be buried now in amongst all the garbage there.
