True.

But people are also much less likely inclined to buy 40-50k cars from these nfi's when the crown confiscates and sells them for minor offences.

Screw holden bail outs imo, Xenophon would just effectively be putting more taxpayers money into Blackrock Inc and Vanguard owned corporations. :hahano:

If something is a dead end, if its going to keep losing money and needing bail outs, which Holdens will, put your efforts into employing those people elsewhere imo. That said though, when there done with fucking so many businesses over, it will be interesting to see if the governments can fit everyone in at their remaining globocorps like Serco. :hahano:

So it seems that Murdoch was fond of Abbot and somebody got this anti-Murdoch propaganda advert banned.

Australian born media mogul Rupert Murdoch also took to Twitter on Saturday night to offer his analysis of why the Labor party had been tossed from power.

"Aust election public sick of public sector workers and phony (sic) welfare scroungers sucking life out of economy. Others nations to follow in time," he wrote.

No they are sick of other things, not 'welfare scroungers' .

But nice attempt by him to divert blame, 10 points for trying.

Yes mate i understand the knock on effects, but these factories have been a dead end for so long. There are other ways to employ these people but it goes against the corporate agendas perhaps.

I just think that effort should be put into something that will work long term, not these plugs for the sinking ship. Shit if you gave the employees the money directly they would be better off, instead of having all this stuff cranking and turning over to lose money.

Ford is still operating at broadmeadows making the FG Ford (they tried not calling it falcon no more) ... but yeah its expected to wind up when the FG is done for in 2016.

Exactly.
My own preference would be to give the workers the factory with a direct holding share each and tell them never to sell their share except to a worker that replaces them.

Ford Australia to close Broadmeadows and Geelong plants, 1,200 jobs to go

www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-23/ford-to-c...adows-plants/4707960

that's shit 1200 jobs ain't to be sneezed at, its the small businesses that rely on those $1200 workers income to survive :coffee:

even though saying no one really wants to own those cars, with the price of fuel and what not, so are they going to out source these jobs

Yeah it will be alot more than 1200 jobs i think in the end, the knock on effect, and parts makers too that arent part of the actual Ford factory. Dana corporation for example builds the rear suspensions alongside the ford factory, so that factory will go too i guess, and there are more. Even the dealerships will lay people off, even though Ford will still be around selling their other global models which they sell here, they will sell less cars with the local model gone.

I dont know what they will do with the employees mate, no idea.

I think these last BA-BF-FG Fords were the best cars Australia has built, even the AU was good technically and extremely aerodynamic, but people didnt like the styling, (and the V8 supercar racing series control suspension and aerodynamics was based off the production AU front suspension solid rear axle car) ... a good AU can give some really expensive cars a run for their money around bends and the BAs had their suspensions tuned at Nurbergring and im quite impressed with them when driven hard (which most dont) ... but they use too much fuel yes, i think Ford has nfi when it comes to engine choices, even though the body shells are good.

I think it was dumb for Ford to spend millions upon millions developing a local big 6 when ford has global 6's . 4's and diesels for starters. It wouldnt have helped in their demise put it that way, a lot of money was spent.

Throwing even more at either Ford or Holden just seems like delaying the inevitable, but hey we all know they dont mind kicking the can around here.

No, the crown came here to set up another business.

You really think the British crown / COL would spend all that money on a first fleet just to imprison some criminals. :P

Doubt it will happen that Ford will produce a global car, cars can be produced more cheaply in many other countries, much cheaper in Asia and cheaper in Europe also. Any car made in Australia has to be exported to even have a chance of being viable, and I just dont think they can compete with the rest of the world, the culture just isnt there to get things right. Toyota builds and exports but they just use japanese blueprints and technology.

If it wasnt for import protection Holden and Ford Australia may have been gone a long time ago. Sure they employed people but its also meant Australians have been paying too much for imported cars in the past, more than most of the rest of the world. And the local ones werent cheap either.

That's what happened here for a short time, really cheap imports but that only lasted a short time :coffee:
