Self-sufficiency is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival; it is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy. The term self-sufficiency is usually applied to varieties of sustainable living in which nothing is consumed outside of what is produced by the self-sufficient individuals. Examples of attempts at self-sufficiency include simple living, homesteading, off-the-grid, survivalism, DIY ethic and the back-to-the-land movement. Practices that enable or aid self-sufficiency include autonomous building, permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. The term is also applied to limited forms of self-sufficiency, for example growing one's own food or becoming economically independent of state subsidies. You raised a good point there when yoh mentioned printing it out.
Everything is going digital nowadays. Even libraries are book burning.
Shtf or no, hard copies of reference material etc is a very, very good idea ;)

anything I want to keep for reference purposes, I print out a hard copy and put it in a hard backed file, never know when I might need it and when I do there might just be no electricity !!

I have a copy of the SAS Survival guide in mine :D
My daughter had to do a water filtration system as part of her degree studies. She used the SAS suggestion and I am happy to report that 99% of dangerous bacteria, pesticides etc were gone when analysed. Others only scored between 66-83% not fit for human consumption....this was stagnant water in a pond btw.

Psketti, for shame, you don't carry your "stash tin" on you at all times. :spank:

So it was surgically removed then. ;) :D

Have you shrunk or has your stash tin gotten bigger? :psketti:

I was involved with some police recently. Pulled over at a breath testing unit, stashed the joint I recently lot up under the seat and forgot about the one behind my ear. I had purchased two ounces, with what I had left over it was probably two and a quarter ounce. Plus I had given a lift to an older Aboriginal (Original) fella into Numbing, and as he had been picking in the bush I was given some branches, which were sitting on the bed. A policy enforcer hopped into the van to move it, he turned to my mate in the passenger seat, who was holding a joint that he had let go out, and stated, "Nice set you got here", moved the van and didn't notice a thing.

I wasn't allowed to drive, so I got out a seat/table and proceeded to slather some chocolate peanut butter on some fruit buile and made friends with the next in line. A friend of theirs came down to drive their car and moved my van up the street a bit for me. I say in the van and smoked a joint with my mate, sold a $20 to another guy pulled over and awaiting friends for a lift. Had another few joints while waiting for the police to finish their shift and then drove away without being done for any of it.
