Unfortunately I had to take immediate action.

The ban can however be reversed if the community wishes it so after the situation has been reviewed.

This is not a decision that I (or the rest of the team that happen to be here at the moment) have taken lightly, believe me.

How exactly are we going to reverse it ? :dunno:

Are the mods going to pm everybody with the sordid details ?

Nope it wasn't easy.

Worst part about it all is losing a cherished member who has chosen to go inactive because of this.

Hope he comes back.

The member in question is excession.

Reason for ban? Out of order racial slurs directed at another member, both via pm and also on the open forum. Harassment in other words. She was warned but took no notice & continued with it.

How to reverse it? Easy...I just click a button.

Are the mods going to pm everybody about it? No.

Damn! Are we all just commenting here? I p.m.'d DG! :D

Anyway, really just said, "Am with you if you thought it necessary".

So as you said warned did that mean points and a cooling off period or a pm warning and then the continuation of abuse. ?

The reason I ask is because no doubt in the future im going to get a warning :killinme: and Im just curious how its going to work.
Also are you saying racial abuse compared to just normal abuse is going to be treated in a different way ?

Are you going to make an announcement and give the reason every time you ban somebody ?

People tbh are nosey fuckers in general, but as your mods and the call is yours I see no reason why you should have to reply. We can take this to pm if you like :)

For EG if you have SF infiltration or some commie group and need to hand out lots of bans in one day, you will be posting all day about the bans !!

1. Being 'on warning' here doesn't mean loss of posting rights/privileges as it does elsewhere. It is simply meant to send a message out to the community that the person in question has been warned about their behaviour, & also a message to the person receiving the warning. A 'deterrent' if you like. The 'warning' will always be open-ended, length of time of said warning dependent on the person/circumstances/the community vote on the matter etc etc. & no, no 'points' or any of that kind of bollocks are involved here.

2. Abuse is abuse, racial or otherwise, and it will not be tolerated on sanctumzone, end of. Neither will harassment, whether it be via pm or on the forum

3 Yes. an announcement will be made everytime this kind of situation crops up.

Hope that clarifies things for you :D

Racism is something that it was agreed by the community was not something we wanted to see here - as such it is one of those things that does require immediate and definitive action.

I am sorry that the member in question felt that it was ok to resort to such negativity and that another of our members has been harassed in such a nasty way.

For what its worth DG I think the right course of action was taken - however will support the community decision.

Thanks for letting us all know and give our views

It wasn't...I sent it to excession via pm late last night.

BUT...as you are obviously pushing the issue...

Here it is as sent, copy/pasted word for word..
Hi excession,

As you have probably noticed, your forum status here at sanctumzone has been changed to 'on warning' The reason/s for this are as follows:

1. Complaints of racial slurs & other abuse to forum members by yourself via private message (pm).

& 2. Generally behaving obnoxiously & disruptively on the boards on a regular basis.

Please note that being 'on warning' here doesn't affect your posting rights/abilities in any way...it is just meant to show the community that you have been warned about your behaviour, and also to send the message to yourself that such behaviour will not be tolerated here.

Shape up & your former status shall be re-instated. If you don't shape up & you continue with this kind of behaviour, further action against you will be taken.

Thank you, admin team

Why the rolling eyes you put the issue out here not me. You have asked for input so Im asking questions. If you dont like it go to pm like I said in my first post !!

Im pushing the issue so you can see the problems its going to bring by posting in an open forum !!!

Also you said and Ill quote

"1. Being 'on warning' here doesn't mean loss of posting rights/privileges as it does elsewhere. It is simply meant to send a message out to the community that the person in question has been warned about their behaviour, & also a message to the person receiving the warning."

So nothing has actually been posted or anybody notified except by this thread except for the persons involved.

TBH the other forum may have a point about being suspended while on warning. Gave me lots of time to do other things and I mean lots of time :killinme:

We will not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia or other forms of hate-speech, or content that could be interpreted as such.
I would have thought that was fairly explicit.

BTW, I saw that the person in question was 'on warning' either earlier today or last night, so it was quite clear to me.
