There's no need to bow, an awed silence will be acceptable.

Yes, I think it's a fair decision,as it would be fairly pointless to set-up a site due to the DIF's refusal to address racism and bigotry, and then not address the very first instance of racism.

I actually got on / do get on well with her. She is funny, and she's a smart lass. I'm sorry to see her go. But you can't have rules and then not enforce them.

Okay, so I guess it's my turn to address this situation.

So, yesterday I visited this forum, (before that, I had not visited the forum for like a day and a half or something) and as soon as I got here, I had a private message notification.

So, I clicked on it, and I had a message in my inbox from excession. I opened the PM and I got this:

LgQtY

One thing to keep in mind, is that I had not contacted her before she sent me this PM, at all. In other words, she just sent it out of the blue.

Now, maybe some of you are wondering what is so wrong about what she said there. For those that don't know, I'm mexican and one of the 'stereotypes' of mexicans is that we always work as service people (maids, etc) and/or in the field, among other things. I don't get offended easily, and I actually think that some "racist" jokes are funny, and this PM was, I admit, a bit offensive, but.. the problem with excession, is that this is not the first time that she does it to me.

She actually said some other stuff to me back at "that other place", and I was not happy about it. When that other incident happened, I had not even crossed words with her, ever, precisely cause I had seen the way she posted, and even though I'm obviously not a saint, I just didn't want to get 'caught' in a shitty situation with her. :noway:

Then, when I registered in the first incarnation of this forum, I read a post she made, where she said that she didn't like me because I made snide remarks about her after she went On Warning because of the incident over at "that other place", then I replied that yes, I was not happy about her racist comments that time, but that I was willing to forget that incident, and that this was a new start, and she agreed to it (I would link to that post, but I have no idea where it is now). I honestly had forgotten about the whole thing until I got this PM.

What I'm trying to understand, is why did she do this. Is it just shit stirring? Is it boredom? I heard that she had dealt with some tough situations in her life, and I understand that, but... does that justify someone's actions? I am honestly really confused. Now, I do understand that there's people that like her, and that is all good and dandy and I fully respect that, if she gets 'reactivated' I have no problem with that, either. I just want to know if she is gonna be like this most of the time so I know what to expect next time I get a 'surprise' PM when I visit the forum. :dunno:

hey kumatora, yeah i can see that being somewhat acceptable if you 2 were year long friends, then it could be brushed off as joke between friends, but damn, spetero is some evil backstabbing person.

@ Kumatora....

The pm is unacceptable....

The reason that I had a soft spot for excession? because I felt for her..knowing that she had had a hard life.
This doesn't however excuse her behaviour. She would know that I would not be happy about racism...having mixed race children myself. So I don't think my reaction now, would be a suprise to her....

As soon as she appeared back on the forum a couple of days ago, I was very disappointed to see that she appeared to be here to cause disruption and decided that I would not involve myself further.

I came to this forum to get away from the racism that was rampant on the dif and don't want to see it here.

So for that reason alone I think it was the right decision to ban her.

I had a soft spot for her too but was extremely pissed off at what she said to kumatora and even more so when phem decided to go inactive over the situation.

I'd rather have both phem and kumatora here.

It's unfortunate that it had to come down to banning. I think the right course of action was taken given the context of the offenses. I think it's good to address the issue in this format too. It's a dynamic that other forums don't have.
Form is merely a momentary manifestation of being, not a fixed reality.

Well, rules are the rules, and our rules here are just and needed apparently...

Banning her was right thing to do.

Heck, if somebody would send me a pm like that, I'd be really pissed off. I've grown in a quite racist society here(man people hate russians/swedes), seen enough of that behavior to know it's poison to people, in any situation...

Thumbs up for DG to take care of this situation.. At least here people do something to this sort of problems.

I agree it was out of order, and while I really didn't know Ex, I didn't care for her mean spirited mindset, it was really a matter of time.

Every forum has an Ex but when it gets personal it's time to cut the cord.

I'm just sorry this happened to our Kuma. :rose:

It further appears that Phem has departed upon principle. I hope he returns. Sometimes I get pretty fed up with online stuff and have to take a break.
