Hi Folks,
We have something new for you to have a play with on the site. This is a Beta so don't go too mad with your creativity, just in case there is a change of plan which may result in data loss. You can always backup your html and images locally just in case.
Right what's this new feature I hear you ask...it's '
MyZone Pages' (beta), which is your own personal web page right here on the Sanctum Zone. You can get creative and express your views on topics which interest you. You have control of the html, images, Youtube and text content. You can publish it publicly or to just registered members or our community.
Obviously you can't advertise on your MyZone Page or use it to promote violence or any other unsavoury activity and no illegal material will be tolerated! What you publish needs to be in line with the spirit of our community here at the Sanctum Zone.
How do you access your piece of the Sanctum Zone? If you look at the top menu under The Zone you will see some new options depending on whether or not you're logged in. The first option takes you to the Search page for members MyZone Pages. There is an example page on there already to give you an idea of what you can do.
If you like the idea of creating your own mini page you need to login and go to The Zone menu and select My Zone Manager > MyZone Admin, which will take you the the page where you can stake your claim.
When I get a chance I will write up some docs but it's actually quite simple. You will notice two web address links at the top of the page. You can use those links to share your page, the first link is a regular web address and the second is for pasting into forums.
The only field that you really need to do anything with is the Description field, where you enter a short description of your page.
The Access Level selection list allows you to determine who can see your page Public means anyone can view your page, where as Registered means only logged in members here can view your page, Suspend allows your page to be unpublished so no one can view it.
Save will store your changes and your ready to begin creating your own page content. Click on Edit bottom left and you will be whisked of to the edit screen. Here you can add text, images and youtube clips. The editor is quite basic but functional so feel free to explore its features.
When you view the example page you will notice a small image in the listing for each entry. You need to upload an image with the file name '
preview.jpg' this only needs to be a small thumbnail image, which the system associates with your page. You don't need to use the image as part of your finished content you could use your avatar). You can upload your article images using the editor also.
Please try and keep your pages tidy and in keeping with the general appearance of the main website.
If you have questions feel free to ask and we will do our best to help you out. Hopefully I will get a chance to create some templates for people who are new to html and css. The best way to learn is to get stuck in and then ask questions.
If you try and upload an image which is smaller the 600x400 the file will fail to upload. In this case look at the bottom left of the upload panel and uncheck the resize check box. Once you have done that your image should make its way to our server.
Youtubes need to be in an iFrame which the system should auto detect once you paste the url into the entry field.
Well that's it for the opening announcement happy coding.
