For various reasons the suggestion has arisen that we split Todays News into 2 categories; One to be solely for reporting/relinking reports of the 'facts' around a story and another for conjecture/conspiracy/comment/debate about the story.

Does anyone have any objections to this in principle?

Hmm can't say I have any objections but I don't see how it matters much.
I'll barely notice myself as I just use the recent tab.

I like it. It's easy then to refer back to the actual (reported) facts at a glance too, without wading through reams of comments - should keep things clear.

I see what you mean, Dubs, but I think it's worth a go.

I actually think it's a good idea, but I also think people should resolve to respect other people's views. I think it's fair to say this didn't happen in the Sandy Hook thread. We've lost numerous people, you can look up their final posts yourself, who were good contributors, but left because someone shouted them down and said their ideas were bollocks. That doesn't mean you can't disagree with people, but there's a way of going about it. Generally, the atmosphere of the forum is really good, far better than most forums, but we could do better.

Give it a go. I guarantee that there will still be people visiting those threads who have no respect for those posting their thoughts. I equally guarantee that the same old shite will happen.
The only thing that will change it is if we all stick to the original SZ principles of respecting each other's views and differences.

Lots of people made themselves voluntarily inactive. I think some of them left due to a lack of tolerance. Some of them explicitly said so. IMHO there are people here now who will never make a constructive contribution to anything, yet in a way, inadvertently to a certain extent, we've accommodated them and alienated people who would be an asset to our little forum. And it's just purely because people are unable to show basic respect for each other. But if you try to point out to people that they're showing a lack of basic respect...see how you get on.

I see, best never to get angry, but to get even with reasonable debate, I found another truthzone blog the other day, is this the ones who left.

Not exactly, it was set up because it was thought by the people who started SZ that what we were trying to achieve was unworkable in reality; ie. a community-driven site. I sort of agree, but I think we could have achieved this except that there would need to be one caveat.

Should threads on here about individual 'truth related people' have there own section?

There is threads around here about David icke, Max Igan, Alex Jones, Grace Powers, ect...

And also George Galloway, Max Keiser, Artist taxi driver and the others lingering around here....

It might also draw people into the Forum....

Slowly slowly catchy... If they can't bury any facts (as has been suggested is the intent) in pages of verbal tennis then they may have lost their raison d'etre ;)

Because one section would be solely for collating info, another for discussion. Obv. similar behaviour in the discussion of topics would have to be dealt with but it couldn't be used as a method of burying info.

Can't see why we can't try it out. If it doesn't work we'll just right off the whole site and forever hold oi solely responsible until the end of eternity resort back to where we are now

No disrespect Oi, but I think you need to get real. This suggestion would do diddly squat to prevent anyone derailing, diverting or any other d'ing a thread in either section.
The choice is clear to me. Hard line moderation or the community saying no, we're not having it. Which of course holds everyone responsible for themselves and anyone not being responsible out the door.

Then this is one easy solution to, in part at least, say we're not having it as the section just for info would be easy modded, if it's opinion or conjecture it belongs in t'other section. There are a few wicked researchers on here, and between us, a good range of sources for info. It would be good if we kept the info available as info. It may well just be pushing the problem out of one forum to another but even that shows it (the problematic posts) can be put in 'their place', be that vent room or whatever, it at least it illustrates an intent to reign it in whilst also tidying up Todays News.
