It seems naive to expect to launch and run a TV station on 300k...but then to ask for more dosh for continued support or the project is in danger of fizzling out seems audacious and deceitful. I used to subscribe to the DIF but I gave up even giving him £3 a month because I consistently found the forum a negative experience, while some of the mods are imbeciles (Scottish Ryan reigns in the premier league of brainwashed idiots ).

So The People's Voice starts in November and it will be free to view. But I wonder if modest subs will soon be seen as a way to help sustain the station as well as canvassing potential advertisers? Maybe there will be some fund-raising activities like t-shirt auctions, bingo and spot the sheep competitions.

Do you think advertisers will flock to the channel? I can't see that but I suppose it may depend on the rates being charged. I don't wish the station ill but I do foresee a few momentous and hilarious cock ups.

In the intro, he goes on about having 'state of the art equipment'.... 'I can send my scripts and it appears on the screen'.... 'they can type stuff here and it goes onto the broadcast'.... er, it's called a computer! I emailed them actually because I have some 'state of the art' equipment to sell at well below budget price but never got a reply.... pretty much what I expected. A conspiracy theorist might think all that vid was just staged... and he's hired out an unfinished room & a few props only to tell everyone later the project has failed because the people watching have failed. I thought for a minute about finding that funny, then decided it isn't.

I think a lot of what he's saying is fair enough & I do really hope it goes well. As has been pointed out, the initial pitch was obviously bollox, & now people have been roped in they won't want to see their cash fall down an empty chasm. I really hope this isn't just another conspiracy sham because I reckon this is a good idea.... depending on the accuracy of the output.

Not in itself an act of Nostradamean insight because there is no 'clean' money to chase after. Corporations control everything. The banking sector has almost total spectrum dominance over the world now. AJ is funding a much smaller and less ambitious operation in a much bigger country, where there is a much larger and more active counter-culture, and he still has paid subscribers and takes some advertisers that could be considered dubious.

This is why I believe the main focus of any counter-cultural movement should be on economics, and building a sustainable society that isn't reliant on such a fascistic monetary and economic system. Because even if activism managed some spectacular achievements, the rug can be pulled from under this society very, very easily if the billionaires, trillionaires and quadrillionaires aren't happy with what's going on. What the fuck is anyone going to do then? It's been done numerous times in countries and continents all over the world. It's no fucking good sitting there saying that "we're all one" or that "we've got an insider from the CIA who's exposed 9/11" when there's no food in the shops, or when everyone's bank account has been frozen, a la Cyprus, Argentina, et al. It is optimistic to think that in such circumstances people will come together, but previous experience would suggest otherwise.
