All jobs are crappy, just some are crappily paid as well!

My point is that, imagine this scenario: let's say you work as a concierge, and receive a pretty moderate salary. And let's say you decide to buy a pretty new Porsche. Meanwhile, in your everyday life, you live from month-to-month, a fairly hand-to-mouth existence, like most people. Let's say your Porsche breaks down and you can barely afford the few hundred quid it's going to cost to get it fixed, thus meaning that you won't be able to get to your job. Should you (a) complain about the cost of fixing your very expensive car to someone who isn't remotely interested in cars, or (b) perhaps look at your car buying decision in the cold light of day and admit (to yourself if no-one else) that it wasn't the wisest one?

I missed that, though, I was out! I just thought I'd clarify what I meant, as I don't look down my nose at anyone, as I have done some of the shittiest jobs imaginable, not least picking spring onions, which was bloody murder and an utterly thankless task, and I for one try not to forget that when I buy shopping.

I do thank you for the spring onions, that must have been back-breaking work :rose: ( i have done cherry-picking up ladders to the tall branches, neck aching work, living in hovel rat-infested sheds, with redbacks on the dunny seat, no kidding, no lights or anything, yikes. we sufferers must stick together like good waffles as Marge simpson said. lol ) :rose:

I saw just the headline for this last night & thought straight away - here is the latest diversionary scapegoat blatant distraction from those really exploiting tax loopholes & giving ever more credence to a cashless world at the same time... It's so fucking see through.... I wonder how many people buy into this shit and start considering paying more for tradesmen just so they can pay more tax? Like it's gonna fucking change the world for the better!

Never mind "tradesmen" . We should all insist in being paid in cash again (remember the Friday pay envelope? :D ) and pay our bills in cash over the post office counter - not as "convenient" as direct debits or clicking a few digital numbers. It might not solve the problem of "tax evasion" (or daylight robbery, as it should be called), but it would get rid of the fekkin bankers.

I certainly pay for almost everything I buy with cash, unfortunately I've never been paid in cash, and am never likely to be.

Anyway, back to paying in cash.

I didn't officially "work" for a couple of years once, donkeys ago. I was asked to do loads of "jobs-for-friends" during that time, and the word spread. I wasn't greedy though, I never ripped anyone off, actually, I was cheap. It was obviously all cash in hand, 'cos I was signing on at the time. But , if someone asked me to check his grannies bathroom light, or some lovely old people had made you dinner...I never charged people like that.

Poor people and their ways ‘morally wrong’ says government minister

Poor people who pay tradesmen in cash in order to avoid tax and have enough money left over to feed their families, are ‘morally wrong’ says Treasury Minister David Gauke.

“Poor people seem to be obsessed with clothing and feeding their families, even to the point of paying tradesmen in cash to avoid paying the proper amounts of tax.” said Mr Gauke.

“We need to get a clear message across that says ‘pay your taxes first, then worry about how you’re going to afford your lard sandwiches’ or whatever it is that poor people eat.”

Gauke explained that poor people saving a few quid for a cash deal is as big a loss to government coffers as the tax avoidance schemes of the super-rich.

“No, we’ve not done anything to address those tax avoidance loopholes yet – why do you ask?”

“I think we can all agree shouting at poor people is easier, and unlike the super-rich they were never going to vote for us anyway.”

Cash in hand

Mr Gauke, who always pays the correct tax despite struggling by on an MP’s salary of just over £60k a year plus expenses, says that the ‘cash in hand’ economy is such a big cost to the Revenue it means others have to pay more in tax.

“If these people can’t afford to pay to have their boiler fixed without trying to save a bit of money by not paying tax, then maybe they need to ask themselves if they really needed that second child.”

“And we keep seeing figures for how horribly overweight the nation is, if these tax dodgers ate a bit less then they probably wouldn’t be so poor.”

“I don’t really understand the problem anyway, surely they can just claim for any repair or maintenance work on their expense can’t they? They don’t get expenses? How ghastly.”

Just one thing to add Lesley...I think you'll find that poor people eat 'pasties'. From Greggs. Not lard sandwiches.
