I know a lot about this subject, I used to play 'high tech' fruit machines professionally around the pubs. To a great extent, luck is NOT involved in winning on these. Skill, and above all knowledge of the programming and features of the machine, is. If you don't know exactly what you are doing on a pub bandit, you WILL lose, because there is always going to be someone else on the case on that machine who does know.
The punter never wins overall, the professional player does. He takes all the available 'value' out of the machine (after its taken its own percentage), then waits for you to fill it up with your losses. Once the machine has taken enough back after his last hit to be in a good mood again (and he can tell by the way it plays if its in a good mood or not), the pro player hits again. And so on..
How did you get into that?

The hard way
I started playing bandits to win over 20 years ago, they of course were a lot less complex in their programming than they are today, and there wasn't a big 'network' of players as there is now. It was just me and a couple of mates going round Manchester city centre pubs every day, creaming off the easy money after watching a punter lose. And so we learnt as we went along, met other players doing the same thing etc. Other guys would empty the quiz machines back then, learn the Q&A's on em. Halcyon days...
I don’t think that’s true. A number is distributed from a central random number generator to all the machines at once. If you press the button at the same time on two machines to spin the wheel, the same number comes in.
Nope not quite...
As I understand it, all the virtual roulette machines in every branch of say, William Hill, are independent of each other as in what numbers they choose to land on etc, but they ARE linked to each other when it comes to percentage payout. For example, you could be playing in a William Hills in Manchester that hasn't paid out all day. Thats irrelevant...if a few people in London branches of William Hills have just had a big win, your machine up here will adjust its PP to reflect that, ie it won't pay until the whole network of the WH terminal system has took enough back to want to pay again.
Bear in mind though, I'm not completely clued up on virtual roulette (no-one is to my knowledge), so could be slightly wrong. These things are a completely different ballgame to pub fruit machines.
